I got a Tehachapi story too ! On one of my many hitch hiking trips to and from California when I was a young teen, a driver let me out of the car at Tehachapi. I don't recall what time of the year it was, but it must have been either spring or summer because the daytime was hot as all get out. I was stuck there at dark, couldn't get a ride. So I thought I would just curl up under a tree and sleep. My great cats, I almost froze to death !!! That was my first experience at how cold the desert can get at night. I knew the women's prison was there and I felt sorry for them having to suffer through the hot weather during the day and freezing their little toes off at night. This was during 1958-1960 so I'm sure they didn't have air conditioning then. Jack Childers in OKC
