(Dirty old man is a euphemism for "pervert". or Molestor) I think when I grew up theere were several "dirty old men" around, but we as children were just told " stay away from that "dirty old man".", and not given details. I am not sure when the terminology and public outrage grew into an active "tracking" of these old men ( and Old women, too). ( I do remember an older lady "inviting me in" while a teen, although I think it didn't go anywhere, when I was about 13, I remember I decided to leave before I got an "education".)
