My two cents: marriage has nothing to do with whether a man (or woman) is a pedophile. It is no deterrent to any mental illness and pedophilia is that - ugly, mean and horrible, yes, but a mental illness all the same. It is a horrible shame that men (speaking of the priesthood and the clergy, in general) in positions of trust in a church, would use that 'exaulted status' to abuse that trust, and on innocent children. How many parents, do you suppose, would even believe their parish priest could - or would - even think of doing such a thing? No doubt, we are seeing only the 'tip of the iceberg' in this "church problem" which, in reality, is society's problem. Do any of you view the EWTN cable channel - Mother Angelica's? If she weren't so incapacitated from suffering strokes, I bet she would give 'em all hell over this behavior, even if she was threatened with excommunication! EWTN is finally addressing this church problem on a couple of their newsy shows - said 'they had been waiting to hear what Rome had to say and decide'. Huh! Sure not much from Rome! It has taken a hit in the Catholic Church's pocketbook to get anyone's attention, including the individual dioceses. Well, Amen to that! Who said, "Money Talks"? Have a great day!
