My heavens, Evie!!! Am so glad that you are ok!!! Where do you live? West TN is under the gun again as I write this with a touch down in Dyer Co. and heading eastward. :-( Best, SueB http://www.cdbaby.com/suegilmore ----- Original Message ----- From: shadlock To: BLACKSHEEP-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, 08 May, 2003 12:40 PM Subject: Re: [BSChat] Dodge tornados rode out one last nite at 1:45 am. found three people in my cellar I never met before LOL! Totally scary. You could hear that thing deep in the cellar. Apparently it lifted over the house , it was on the ground, but even still the winds were ferocious and scary. One of the ladies i used to work with lost her home last nite and another family who are dear friends of ours I cannot find on the phone. They lost their home several years ago due to at tornado and just finished their new home. There was one on the ground in their neighborhood as I was taking cover. There were a total of eight tornadoes around our neck of the woods. I live in a trailor and by the sound of things I was sure it was gone. Turns out a few trees were snapped and some really shaken dogs in the pen. Apparently all of my gardening equipment was tossed about so I am guessing by the way things are strewn we got the edge or bottom of it while it was still in the air. Thank Goodness. Ardmore, Ok. This is not new to us be we have had a break that last couple of years. Got too comfortable with the peace I guess. More of the same today. It is so wierd, I never worried until i bought a trailer. I actually bought the property and wanted to build a house and live in the trailer while doing so. Good thing I have a cellar. Keep safe yourself! Hope Air Force bases are safe. My oldest just went to tech. school in Ms.........get this........for meteorology LOL! Evie Thanks, all is safe here so far. I would still rather lose my stuff if I was predestined to lose it in a fire (with no harm to living bodies). I have picked up the pieces from a tornado before and it is awful. You get to see the ruin more clearly. With a fire you can doze it over and start anew. My friends lost a lot of photos in the storm several years back, the rest of their stuff was wet and molded and smelly. It was then I decided that a fire would be better to pick up after. Days of intense heat and humidity and picking up clothing , furniture, pics that would never make it . What we did discover was a two gallon pickle jar my friends had on their porch had been sucked into the ground, the lip was flush with the earth AND IT WAS NOT BROKEN. Just like it screwed itself down or was deliberately buried there. An old bathtub was found across the highway and some of their bills and pics were up to two miles away. Totally wild.
