That's what I do when I want lyrics for more recent songs. Type in: that's the good stuff + lyrics and see what comes up. Good luck! Best, SueB

    1. [BSChat] need genealogy program that imports from PAF and does good reports

    3. Does anyone know of a genealogy program that imports GEDCOM's from PAF and puts out nice reports, "books" with pictures and stories and that sort of thing? I got an older version, 7.0, of Family Tree Maker Deluxe Edition, and it can't even import dates. It drops or mangles Puritan dates, such as 4 Nov 1626/27, which the members of the FTM tech support list spent extensive time telling me isn't a valid GEDCOM date even though PAF is the creator of the GEDCOM standard and the date is both valid and common for the period. It has trouble if you don't write "about" correctly, and the paf form is "abt", and it may have trouble with 1636-1637! I've got people telling me I've got to go back and manually reenter all of those dates, and in FTM format so that 1636/1637 abecomes 1636-1637, which loses the fact that it's a Puritan date and makes it look ambiguous. With a large database of course I'm not going to do that. There also seem to be other bugs not designed with people serious about genealogy in mind, such as "books" have indexes but they don't let you list dates or identification numbers with the names! Another problem people were reporting; FTM mangles facts and attributes on importing such that if you list occupation, date and place the actual occupation gets listedin the place field. It is the height of stupid that any genealogical program can't import from PAF - does anyone know of a program that does it better? I'm a little scared to go out and try another program now. Only reason why I want another program is to do nice reports; I am satisfied with PAF for data entry and exchange. Come to think of it, noone has ever sent me a GEDCOM that the details were mangled when I opened the file. PAF obviously imports from other programs without mangling!
