    3. Gary, Jan's idea is better than mine (she's often closer to the mark than I), however, I do remember that some of the wagon trains were sponsored & led by the Wells Fargo Co. That organization still exists, it's now strictly a bank, but they might still have some records from the "old days". Certainly wouldn't be a big investment to find out!
