    1. [BSChat] Awfully quiet out here!
    2. Susan T Grove
    3. Guessing everyone's busy with summer, since the mail has been light for the past few weeks. :-) Finally hot here in IL, much to my chagrin. I enjoy the 60-70 degree weather we had in June... I started a new line of research last week, trying to jump-start my interest in all things gen. Researching my husband's Williams line. Someone gave me a birth date for the ggfather--I took bad notes "back then" when I first started out, so have no idea where it came from--and I decided to contact the county that I had written down (Hancock Co., OH)...lo and behold, there is a birth record on file for ggfather Augustus Frank Williams, born in 1878! Very pleased, and wrote an official request (with check, of course) to get a copy. While I have his parents' names, I don't have any further info on them. I picked thru the entire Hancock Co. 1880 census looking for them, but no luck. They ended up in MI eventually, but I don't know when they left OH. Don't know whether to pick thru census reports for surrounding counties, or hang it up until I figure out something else. (The birth record doesn't give much info on the parents, other than names.) Anyway, I hope the rest of you aren't suffering too much with bad weather, and that those who've written about their personal challenges (health and otherwise) are doing better. I've missed the chat, even tho I generally lurk! Sue G IBSSG

    3. Bettye, So great to hear from you! Thank you so much for your good wishes. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers as well as your dad. Alzheimers is a terrible disease to have to deal with and you have certainly had your share. To think that you have to deal with your own ill healthwhle trying to deal with that is mindboggling and might break a lesser spirit. It sounds like your quite busy with your daughter and grandchildren. I bet you are really enjoying them too! I haven't gotten to see as much of mine in the past few months,we don't want them out here around all this. My niece is getting married Sat. at 2:00 and my parents and younger brother came in from Ga. for the wedding and my daughter and grandchildren will be here too, of course. We are planning to get out of here just as soon as we can. We have gotten the drug cooking stopped for now, and that's one reason the brother, James, is so angry. David is my husband, James is David's brother.I don't think he would be carrying on his activities too much right now, anyway, as the parents are in visiting from Alaska Part of the time the parents act like they are convinced that we are lying on James and then they let things slip that let us know that they really do know that there is something to what we're trying to tell them. I think that they are in denial and are also just plain scared that we might direct enough attention to him that he'll end up being arrested and he also has a 20 yr. old son who stays home all day with 7 dogs guarding the house from any prying eyes etc.Thank you so very much for taking the time out of your hectic schedule to extend your best wishes to me and to catch us all up on what's going on with you. You're more than welcome for what little help that I could be in your genealogical research. Jinnye -------Original Message------- From: BLACKSHEEP-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com Date: Thursday, June 12, 2003 05:53:09 To: BLACKSHEEP-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [BSChat] good vibes hello Jinnye & good luck from Bettye Jinnye, Jinnye, good luck, hope you will get out of there as soon as possible, you are quite a strong person, and I think the move to Georgia would be great. Being a Georgia girl myself, you won't find nicer understanding people around, of course other states have proven to have wonderful folks around also. It's been a long hot summer here, and today I have to have a repeat scan done on my brain, for the possible meningomna they thought they saw last year. I'm a little late in getting this procedure done, due to the care of my father, etc. The procedure was supposed to have been repeated in six months, but my Dad is in the hospital again, being assessed for his Alzheimer's problems. My daughter and her family are with me also at the moment, as we are helping her remodel her home to put on the market and sell. I love that sort of thing anyway, and the children are having a great time here swimming every night, golfing on the weekends, and fishing in my backyard, and I still have a guest room available upstairs.. I am still deep sea fishing on the weekends also, when the weather permits. Can you beleive I took the boat out alone last week, just in the river though. It was funny, some older man was standing at the dock amazed and watching me dock it, I did it perfect the first time, even though I haven't been driving her lately, as my sons like to take the relm of the wheel. I enjoy my daughter and her family very much, and we are having a ball. So glad I have the room for them. My little granddaughter will be taking voice lessons (private) this summer from a freind of mine that teaches in the neighborhood. She is not shy and auditioned for her voice teacher last week. She is only 7 and is great. She listens to all music and can seem to imitate some singers style, even though she is only 7. Maybe a born singer, I hope. Still searching for my Simmons grandmother that was from Hawkinsville, Ga that you helped me with last year, when you were in Georgia., so if you are near that area again let me know. You were so helpful on locating cementaries for me. in and around that area. I still appreciate your helpful geneaolgy searches for me. I have also recently found out that an ancestor from Georgia (1734) and orginally from Germany, was buried in Marietta, Ga and a campground is there also founded my members of my family. Peter was also an American Revolution soldier. It seems that we have some distant cousins, and relatives in that area that still reside there, and they are planning a family reunion very soon on the orginal campgrounds. Isn't it wonderful to make new discoveries in geneaolgy? Jinnye, I really hope everything goes well for you, and I certainly agree that your husband's brother, David needs help. Surely one day he may hit bottom, before it takes his life, etc. I hope the move will provide much more happiness for you and your family, the old saying "Out of sight, out of mind, may prove to be true. Muck luck to you Jinnye, and maybe we can all make new discoveries in the field of geneaolgy. By the way, my garden circle here won the wildflower award that I help spearhead for the roadway going to the intercoastal waterway, now in September, I hope to spearhead a drive for planting Texas Bluebonnets here. Can you believe they also do quite well here in this area and will also reseed.? some are planted out on Interstate I-10 West of here. Good luck Jinnye, my email is quite long, but I have also been out of touch with the list for a few months, due to all the issues I have been faced with lately. Great things are also happening for our town here, and we are getting a new cruise ship terminal, (Jacksonville, FL) who knows, maybe Sue can be the featured country music singer abroad the Zenith Celebrity or the Carnival lines that will dock here, her music is really great, and I still listen to her wonderful tapes. Again good luck Jinnye, and let me know what town in Georgia you will settle in, hope your new home brings much new happiness and new geneaolgy finds. 1. Re: [BSChat] good vibes hello Jinnye & Whitewolf
    2. Whitewolf, Thanks, yes I am still here, but busy everyday, seems like I have little time for myself anymore. My daughter is building a new home, and I am helping them remodel, etc and also am providing her a home here, so she can save for new items much needed for their new home. She and her husband willl be in the country somewhere with land for the children to ride go carts etc, and room to roam. They all love nature and the outdoors. Of course my father is 88 and soon will be 89 in August, and has Alzheimers, as did my mother also, that I lost last March, so many problems with that disease, getting medications regulated, etc and the complications that disease causes are many. He will be getting out of the hospital today, and returning to Assisted Care across from Mayo clinic here. Hopefully, I think his medications have been decreased and maybe he will improve. Lots of care and entertainment for them over there also, and outings. I like to go over and have dinner with him at times, and listen to the entertainment myself, isn't it wonderful that great artist contribute their time for a very small fee for these patients of care homes or assisted facilities? It is a very rainy seaon here and has rained nearly everyday. Thanks Whitewolf, yes I read the BS-chat and Blacksheep list everyday, but still am trying to get in some geneaolgy finds in my spare time. Thanks Whitewolf, Bettye

    3. Jinnye Wish I could be there with my pickup and utility trailer to help you move out of that den of inequity. Not a big outfit but I once carried 22 lawnmowers home from my distributor so it could surely help carry you folks out of harm's way. Wishing you well, .....E T.....

    3. E.T., I sure do wish you could be here too. You don't know how much it means at a time like this, just to know that there are people out there like you who care. Especially when it seems like nice guys really do finish last. It will be wonderful just to be out of it. 3. Yes, good ol' Ar. I've heard that California is supposed to be no. 1 in meth manufacture and that Ar. and Mo. take turns being no. 2 and no. 3! David's brother has a college degree and a nice house. I guess that meth is a very good income supplement, besides he's hooked on the stuff himself. This is a gravel road that is off the blacktop road, aptly named Crystal Lake Trail. When you get about halfway down the road there's nowhere to go but to land that belongs to David's parents and the two houses that we and his brother live in. -------Original Message------- From: BLACKSHEEP-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, June 10, 2003 18:52:15 To: BLACKSHEEP-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [BSChat] family probs. holey schmoley, ARKANSAS!!!!!!!! well theres your problem LOL! 3. We are planning to move, haven't really decided whether to stay in the area or to move out of state, yet. We certainly don't want to be on a private road where the next door neighbor is cooking meth, though. David's parents moved to Alaska to Beryl. They are in now on vacation. We have been successful in getting them put on a federal watch list. My sister's boyfriend is the prosecuting attorney and has assured us that if we can get them arrested, he'll through the book at them. I had one in my area and it took a year and a half before they shut him down. And as unpopulated as Alaska is they are many meth labs operating. As nasty as meth is I don't know why they let them go so long. It has ruined many young lives and has caused untold misery and deaths. At times I think maybe a little cash is exchanging hands and nothing is done until they absolutely have to. If the law won't do anything I would remove my self from the problem. You really don't have to go far, just away the the imeddiate area. And I will keep you in my nightly Prayers. Jinnye Nobles Koons wrote: > > Thanks, so much for your advice and good wishes.
