    1. [BSChat] sometimes the hunt causes grief
    2. Dave
    3. Found a second cousin late last year; she was a retired teacher living about a seven hour drive north of me. Exchanged by mail some information, but she said she was ill. Another cousin went to visit, and just informed me that she was now on a morphine drip and in the "home stretch" . Strange how if i hadn't found her, learning about the death afterwards would not have affected me.

    3. funny how that connection just reaches up and snatches you. i think we all have a sense of kinship, even with those we do not know of yet...........i don't know if it is genetic memory or what.........but it is there none the less. i am sorry to hear that..............another reminder that we are not islands. evie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave" <dave.tompsett@sympatico.ca> To: <BLACKSHEEP-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 14, 2003 10:19 PM Subject: [BSChat] sometimes the hunt causes grief > Found a second cousin late last year; she was a retired teacher living > about a seven hour drive north of me. 3. I know what you mean. It's getting to where someone's gotta die for there to be a family reunion anymore. I am hoping to hold an annual event somewhat less formal than a reunion an call it Rendzvous. I am not at present able to host such an event, but when I am it will be the same time every year so that everyone will know when it is and can plan far enough ahead to make it if they want to. The present plan is to make it the first full weekend (friday thru monday) of August every year. My sister's vacation falls during that time (she works in the educational system in Napa) and most of the people I have talked to can make arrangements for that time with enough fore knowledge. Hopefully I will be in a position to do this next year... I hope... Calvin B. Littlefield, IBSSG (Sadly considering dress uniform) "Anymore I only wear this thing for funerals and weddings. Same company I have worked for almost 21 years, just a promotion and a pay raise. I was laid off for 7 years, and during the lay-off I did lots of research but now I am unable to do much searching!! God Bless, and may everyone find who you are researching .

    3. The greeness of lawns is a factor of LONG term nutrition, grass species, and whether or not the lawn is maintained properly for it's type. There are many types of lawn grasses, and some are seasonally grown ( winter and summer) Some are year round growers, and some are affected by altitude, light conditions, and amount of water applied. Check with your neighbor to see what he/she is doing. Also a LOCAL professional would be able to recommend what actions you should do for YOUR location. -- Jeffery Scism, IBSSG Links to my Homepages: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~scismfam/ Genius- Noun. 3. I have to agree...how is it possible that, when I watered my lawn for hours on end last week, that my grass is no greener than the neighbors who have done NOTHING to theirs? Although I must admit that the increased heat over the past two weeks has made the mowing nice--I mowed Tuesday for the first time in 2 weeks, and even then I could've probably done just as good a job with the weed-whacker. But I loooove those nice, neat mower tracks! (I like the vacuum tracks in the carpet, too. Makes it look like I DID something.) Sue G. > I am convinced that lawns are evil. They are a trick of the Dark Side to make us all conform to the status quo. I would much rather have moss than grass. Much softer and far less work. When I buy a house I will tear up the lawn and put in a water garden. Or maybe just a pool. Anyone know someone who builds moats...? > > Calvin B. 3. N0 , I live in Huntsville, Alabama. My Faulk ancestors are from Dooly County, GA They migrated from Robeson N. Carolina to Dooly County., in the 1800's ( ??). I searched FAULK's in N.Carolina but each lead led me into a brick wall. I am discouraged but I cannot give up. Sinve I have returned to work after a 7 year lay-off, my reseach time has been cut drastically. I was born in Pulaski County, GA (Hawkinsville ) but many of the FAULK's from various areas such as Cordele, Vienna, Unadilla were my family. Amd I got the 1910 and 1920 census from GA with my grandfather Homer Marshall FAULK and Minnie ALLEN listed. Along with all father's siblings. I just cannot find who Homer's parents or greats were. or even Minnies. And that just drives me nuts. Oh well back to the research!! ,
