    2. J. Garland
    3. Well, Mike will know more about this than I, I haven't heard so much of "Black Irish" in respect to the Melungeons, I sure it's possible, though. They usually claimed association with just about anything else as a reason for their exotic, darker look, often contrasted with blue eyes. There have been a lot of years when it wasn't good to claim a family connection to either the NA peoples or to Blacks, so, depending on the time frame and location, I'm sure they came up with various stories to protect themselves from the ignorant people around them. As a group, they've had a pretty rough time here. There are still those who don't want it known that they're part Melungeon--the first website I saw about them, the website owner had received threats. He had mentioned specific surnames in association with Melungeon families, and some people didn't like that. There's still plenty of ignorance to go around, looks like. 3. Doctors only take one class in nutrition. Their colleges weren't paid for by nutritionists. <G> The best medical care in the world is supposedly in Japan where they concentrate on preventive medicine. Nutrition and excercise fall into that category. It isn't what our medical business here in the US is interested in, not enough money in it. At least not enough to please the pharmeceutical companies. In Japan, when a patient gets sick, the doctor loses money. What difference, eh? 3. I am so friggin tired of the Israel-Palastine conflict I could throw-up! And my patience with Afganistan is growing thin. And I'm sick & tired of the Catholic Priests & sex abuse. There is no end to the old, archaic, way of thinking. I had high hopes that the human mind had risen to a higher level in 2002, but it doesn't look promising. Looks like the Middle Eastern countries are still mired-in with their old religious beliefs. In a nut-shell, I'm disappointed in the *MALE* leaders of various countries. They can never seem to get it together. Jan C.

    3. Yes, I know what you mean, Jan. I'm hoping that the Israel/Palestine thing will be settled by them alone. I don't want us involved there, if it can be avoided. I don't see any other countries coming to give military assistance to Arafat, so, maybe if we just stand back and watch, the two old "freedom fighters" --or their successors-- will find a way to put the past where it belongs and move on. The priest problem--I have no doubt it's been going on forever. And allowing them to marry won't solve the problem. Those perverts are like any other, except they're wearing a collar and have more opportunities and a better cover than most. I don't think the problem would ever have been drug out into the light of day in any other country than ours, where we're more supportive of the victims. I don't know if the church will do a good job of weeding out the bad ones. Used to be they didn't defrock anyone because it would be construed as guilt and perhaps make the church responsible. Perhaps after a few lawsuits, they'll realize that they have to do things differently. 3. Jan G. My old mom does the same thing...she lives her life through my kids, and me (I'm an only child). I've often wished I'd had brothers & sisters...but my Mom has been good to my kids. She made the down-payment on their homes...about $20,000.00 each. It's part of their inheritance. Jan C. -----Original Message----- From: J.
