As children mature they see their horizons expanding, which also means more responsibility, and sometimes this new found "freedom' and responsibility scares them, so they regress a little. Kind of a putting on the brakes to slow down something that is coming at them too fast. I think it is normal for children to regress from time to time. Heck, I have seen adults regress under times of stress. The curling up in a little ball and wanting the world go away when you experience a traumatic experience, that kind of thing. I think I was 27 years old before I quit wanting someone else to take over the reins and drive for awhile. Jack Childers in OKC

Any regression is a warning sign. Some may be only social issues, like perhaps the older child feels insecure and isn't "challenged" to play with more sophisyicated toys/games/activities? Or perhaps the child needs a slightly older friend, who can "pull them" along? Your younger child will feel the need to "meet" his older sibling's level, and that level seesm to be coming down, as you noted. The pair need a higher challenge. Jeffery G. whoa, there's a problem there! You need some outside help, or an opinion at least, in regards to the older one. That kind of regression is a serious sign that something's wrong. Yes, but Kade is an Earth Mother incarnate ! She has very strong maternal instincts, always taking care of someone or some animal. When her baby brother was alive she thought that was HER baby and was actually very good at taking care of him. When he died she was very upset, and wanted me to give her another baby to take care of. Now all of a sudden she wants to be an only child ! What's this, the onset of hormonal changes addling her mind !?! Jack Childers in OKC
I mentioned to Kade that I'd of liked to have had sextuplets and she said she didn't want any part of it ! She said she liked being any only child because it allowed me to spoil her !!! Jack Childers in OKC
The only thing good about sextuplets is that you might get a free house and van and college ed for the kiddies, like that couple in Iowa. Personally, I can't see it. Terri

Jack, every little kid, 3 or 4 years old, thinks they want a new sibling. And then the baby is born and the jealousy sets in by the time the baby is 6 months old, if not sooner. It would have happened to Kade too. Yes, they did. But two of them have some real challenges ahead in their lives, problems related to premature births. I'm glad they got some help--a big enough home, etc. But mom and dad are going to need to spend some extra time with those two. Makes it tough to have as much time as you'd like with the rest. Not enough time in the day. But, I don't doubt there's plenty of love to go round and I'm sure they'll know it. My nearest chronological brother is five years older than me. It took him about 20 years to get over losing his spot as "baby" in the family. lol Used to steal my teddy bear. And my "space radio".
