    3. I had relatives in Westchester and living close to Budd, but I don't know of any direct connection. Perhaps a cousin to his wife...will have to check. But I'm missing the names of my ggg and gggg grandmothers in that line, so, it's too soon to say on the connection to Budd. I understand he was a colorful person, an independent thinker. I started writing down information back when I was a child....and would ask my grandma to tell me about the family....but put my shoulder to the wheel in the late 1960s; I've never looked for any famous persons, just didn't think they would be there, I suppose....or maybe I just wanted to be sure of my data, so it never seemed to lead me in that direction.... doris ----- Original Message ----- From: <AletaM@aol.com> To: <BLACKSHEEP-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, June 01, 2002 9:28 PM Subject: Re: [BSChat] famous/infamous relatives In a message dated 6/1/02 8:53:53 AM Mountain Daylight Time, halltown_tn1951@yahoo.com writes: > Have been doing genealogy research almost 7 yrs. 1. [BSChat] Daniel Boone walks to Missouri.
    2. James Dagley, II had two brothers, Benjamin Franklin Dagley and John Jacob Dagley. Both were in the War of 1812. Three sons of John Jacob Dagley came to Texas and were part of the early history of Texas (my home). One daughter, Elizabeth Dagley, married late and married Jonathan Boone, older brother of Daniel. It was her first marriage and his third. They never had children, although Jonathan had children by his first two marriages. One of his sons, Joseph Boone, married a daughter of Thomas. Old Daniel Boone left his home in Kentucky in his late 80's and walked to Ray county, Missouri to visit his brother, Jonathan, for the last time. Elizabeth didn't know he was coming and spotted someone with a feather in his hat down at the well getting a drink and drew a bead on him with her long rifle. Just as she was about to pull the trigger, the stranger waved his hat and identified himself as Daniel Boone. (Source: IBSSG Member Larry Dagley in his book on the Dagley family) Jeffery G. That is a smart idea to live close to where he will be working , that is what I did when I relocated and bought a company in Ft. Myers and didn't know the area. There is snow skiing in IN and plenty of winter sports and other things that might interest him. It sounds like he is about 30 minutes from downtown. That is a great and growing area. I live on the East side of Cincinnati which is also very nice. Chicago is only about a 5 hour drive from here. So that is always nice. Robin

    3. Sue, quite frankly, I was hoping it would be in Latin rather than German. However, since I didn't expect that it would be in English, I was gearing myself up to try to help...no promises...I learned Latin, French, Spanish, some Turkish, English, and what little German my father could remember...but it was his ggrandfather who could actually claim fluency, so I didn't learn that much. Every time I'm in Germany the locals try to talk to me in German, so I must have the "look", but that doesn't mean I CAN help...only that I'm willing to try. 3. Sheepers, This is better than smashing a genealogical brick wall! It will save me a thousand bucks, at least for a while. What was making total hash out of my computer, even preventing Windows to load, was an incompatibility between Norton Antivirus 2002 and the version of ZoneAlarm I was running. Neither program was functioning properly. After sorting through tons of articles at the Symantec website, I stumbled over the proper one that explained it all. I had to uninstall Norton, uninstall ZoneAlarm, reinstall Norton. Things are back to normal. Sharon IBSSG

And I have another grown kid in DE, with her husband and my only (so far) two grandkids, so it looks like I'll be spending some time on the road in the next couple years. lol Sure, I'll stop for a visit with you too. Would be fun. Brian tells me he's got an apartment on the north side of Cincinnati, about a mile from where he'll be working. It's on the third floor, so he'll have a nice view of what ever there is to see. Nice to hear that it's rolling and pretty down there. I was thinking it might be flat, as it is towards the north end near the big lake. He had also told me that it's quite the big city, with art and libraries and all. It's got 'culture'. Not sure what he'll do with it. lol he's usually on a computer in his spare time. I'm hoping he'll discover some snow sports in the winter. We checked around for familiar things. The closest Ikea is in Pittsburg. Don't know what else he'll recognize. None of the banks are the same. I pointed out Crawford Co. PA on the map and told him we had relatives that lived there 1825-1885. He seemed a bit interested, he does like history. It'll be a nice change for him, a bit of adventure.
