Most Apaches were friendly enough...they got a very bad reputation from those attempting to "appropriate" their hunting lands and burial grounds. As perspective, think how you would feel if people who were alien to you were trying to take over your home and the cemetery where your ancestors were buried. Would you be friendly to the interlopers who were trying to do away with your very lifestyle & all the sacred burial grounds? I would doubt it! Mike, IBSSG PS: this is not a flame, but few of the non-native Americans (i.e., descendants of immigrants from Europe, Asia, & Africa) realize just how intrusive their ancestors were to the indigenous peoples. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Faye Parker" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, September 07, 2002 10:59 AM Subject: Re: [BSChat] ghosts & flying saucers > Just a weird thought!!!!!!Were they peaceful? > > Am Southern born and bred and darn proud of it Am researching maternally:ballard,briley,clubbs,george,gillihan,goolsby,jackson,link(9x),ma jors,pool/poole,summers,thompson > paternally:ausbrooks, barber,:brown, freeland, gant, kirkham, mcquiston, moye, park er,rippy, tipton, whitson > > Brenda Parker proud member of the IBSSG > > > --------------------------------- > Do You Yahoo!? > Yahoo! There is a possibility that you have a yet-to-be-discovered ancestor who was an Acoma Apache. Laguna is in the middle of the Acoma lands. I used to do the midnight shift at this one radio station in a fairly new building in a very old town. Sometimes late at night I would get that prickley feeling, the hair standing up on the back of my neck and a chill going down my spine, the kind you get when someone ealks into a room and you have your back turned...but you turn around and nobody is there! A little research led me to the discovery that the house that had sat on the site burned to the ground with an old woman in it. The new house was built on the propertysome years later. I guess the old woman was a fan of country-western music... A buddy and I once were out on his porch with binoculars and got freaked out about a light on the horizon we were sure was some strange aircraft...until Venus got a little higher in the sky... No, we weren't smoking wacky terbacky! Calvin B. Littlefield, IBSSG Some days you're the bug, some days you're the windshield...

The dialogue varies from nation to nation, and of course, each nation intones in their own unique tongue. In essence, the words in English would be as follows: Oh, beloved ones, hear the words from the Great Spirit. You are called to be one with the spirits in the lands beyond earth and time. To free your spirit you must now yield to me and go with me, leaving the bonds of this earth. You shall have eternal good hunting in the life beyond. It is a chant for the lost ones. The ones that cannot find there way. A Shaman or Medicine man would know of it. Whitewolf > What kind of chant Whitewolf? This is interesting. >
Thanks Bill, I'll check into it. I also have some freinds that teach at a small airport in another small town north of here. Bettye
>I know ghosts aren't a genealogy topic but!!!!!!!!!.Why do i get creepy feelings in weird places?????. < That's ok 'cause this is the *Chat-L* where we can get off into these kind of tangents (as long as we keep inside of the rules, natch!). :-) Personally, I believe that places tend to take on the vibrations of what has taken place in or around them. Bad stuff or tragedy equals bad vibes/feelings. Not everyone is able to sense this either. Best, SueB
[email protected] wrote.... >Sue what are Dowsing rods? I have never heard of them before. What do they look like? What do they do?< These particular ones were just pieces of metal bent into an L shape and the proportions were about the same as that letter 'L'. The dowser would hold onto the shorter end of both rods with the longer ends pointing straight out ahead of them and when a water source was found the long ends would pull towards each other forming a pattern similar to an X. I'm trying to remember how big around they were and they really weren't much thicker than, say 2-3 times the size of your average wire coat hanger, quite light weight as well. Best, SueB
Susan T Grove wrote.... > part way through Dad told her & the realtor that he had to get outside.< I can relate to that, though not to the instance of the choking feeling. I remember one yard sale that my ex and I stopped at. Well, it was kind of a yard and house sale and, looking back on it, I now have the feeling that it may have been an estate sale. It was one of those old MI farm houses and this one hadn't been painted in forever. Actually, I don't even remember any indication that this house had ever had a dab of paint on it, though over all, it wasn't in bad shape. Anyway, the house itself was also open with books and other goodies for sale within. Normally, I just love going through these old buildings and am a big fan of the older homes. Not this one! I was inside looking at some of the books offered for sale for about 30 seconds when I had this very strong feeling of unease and an overwhelming urge just to get gone!! So I did! Best, SueB
Bill here in Florida you can dig a hole only a few inches down and find water everywhere. Maybe it's not enough to support a well though. Bettye
What kind of chant Whitewolf? This is interesting. Has anyone ever seen a flying saucer or an unidentified flying object that appeared to be a flying saucer? I did only once and back when my husband flew F-102's for the local FL Air National guard and my daughter was a small infant, in the middle of the night for her bottle, I had a habit of looking out the windows to make sure everything was safe and sound in my surroundings or neighborhood, lo and behold there was this flying saucer, it landed in a huge cow pasture closeby and stayed there for a while. I called the airport tower (air traffic control) and asked if a small plane had gone down, they asked for my name, and I refused, as I stated to them, that my husband was also employed with Federal Aviation and a very active alert pilot with the local Guard, and I wasn't drunk, but stating facts of what I was seeing. Never ever again have I ever witness this sort of thing, but my husband has seen some strange things, he didn't want to talk about in his many years of flying. He had his wings as a commissioned officer USAF at age 21, aand for many years flew aircraft, and was also an instructor pilot in texas for many years It was an experience that I'll never forget aslong as I live. What about Easter Island? there are air paths there created by ancient people. What about caves with drawings of space ships from ancient times. I really think they is a supreme race somewhere, other than here on this planet. What about it Herb? Have you seen anything unusual in your years of flying aircraft? Bettyboat may take some flying lessons, been thinking about it, as the airfield (a very small one is close by) I love adventure and something different. Bettye
The dowsing rod I saw wasn't a rod. It was a willow stck, shaped like a y. you hold the 2 forks, when close to water the end dips down. I have even seen a small one that worked over a map. I guess I'd better clarify how I feel. I'm plain of two minds about these laws because I think they serve a useful function as long as they are not themselves used for witchhunts, which they only occasionally are. The teenagers of teh Roswell program could bring people back from the dead, heal the sick, repaint rooms with their minds, make it snow, get into peoples' minds, and predict the future, and one of them solved a kidnapping by psychic visions. She was interrogated to death by town officials and then the FBI, and I think noone will deny it's a good thing she could validly have taken the fifth amendment. We aren't talking about oigi boards adn dousing. The youngsters tehmselves came to the conclusion that healing people who have fatal illness or whose time it is to die goes against the laws of nature. Human nature is such that such powers can be used mostly inappropriately, and I think having laws to kind of keep such things a private matter are not a strictly bad thing.
