Once upon a time I did do a Monday fast just because my doggone system is so slow. Maybe I should consider doing it again..... > LOL I'm sitting here pigging out on Yarnell's butter pecan ice cream right now and it sure is yummy! < Eh, the heck with it!! 3. Bettye, Mattie very well could have been a nickname for Mathilda. I hadn't thought of that. My mother's great grandmother's name was Mathilda Carmichael, but she was from Lumber City, Ga. (Telfair Co.) I can't find out a thing about her, so far. I have an Aunt Mat, whose real name is Martha and I had a great aunt whose name was Mattie Belle. My dad's maternal grandmother's name was Mary Virginia Harpe, but she was called Molly and my mother's maternal grandmother's name was, Mary Ann and she was also called Mollie. They were both surprised when I told them their reall names were Mary. They both said, "no, Grandma's name was Molly. We had an Isabella Tucker Nobles in our family, that lived to ber 97, but she was born in Ms. in 1847 and then moved to Tx. at 2 on a covered wagon. If I ever get to go back to Ga. for a little while and can break free of my parents and visiting every old person that they know while I'm there I'll see if I can find out anything for you. Jin [email protected] wrote:Thanks Jinnye, The sqeaking wheel gets the grease. My wildflower project didn't do so well, and I just contacted Wildseed Farms in Texas and they are reshipping 14 lbs of the Southeastern Wildflower mix to be planted by the DOT and our Garden Circle again along the Atlantic Blvd section, just before the intercoastal waterway. The other areas of the city we had beautiful wildflowers, and the project here, was my idea. Anyway the seed is to be planted next month in October, and hopefully we will have beautiful wildflowers in bloom along Atlantic Blvd. and the intercoastal waterway. See our Fl Fed of Garden Club web site at www.ffgc.org scroll on down to roadside beautifaction and you'll see our project and the wildflower seeds planted by Queens Harbour. Glad you enjoy the wildflowers and Garden Clubs also. The wildflowers this month in Georgia and on the edge of South Carolina were beautiful and still in bloom. Wildflowers are a special project of mine. Good to hear from you. Still researching my Hawkinsvlle ancester Mattie (Mathilda Lou) Simmons Tucker, a grandmother that died young in Hawkinsville, Ga no new leads yet. Found out an uncle from there probably has a surname of McAlister. I am beggining to think Mattie was nickname for Mathilda. 3. Ooooh Bettye, that sounds really scary! I grew up with a cemetery behind my house, but it was quite a distance behind it. Sometimes I would spend the night with one of my friends who lived on the street behind us, after church and we'd take a shortcut through the cemetery, along with her brothers and sisters. It was the oldest part of the cemetery. We didn't have to be in it long and of course we either ran through it or walked really fast, but it was spooky and scary! My aunt also lived beside the cemetery where most of our relatives are buried. When we'd go to visit, my mom would send me out to get something out of the car at night and one of my cousins would hide out there somewhere and scare the daylights out of me. It would be neat to find all the artifacts though. Jin [email protected] wrote:Mike and Whitewolf, There is a resturant just a few miles over the intercoastal waterway from me called the "Homestead". It is said to be haunted, and there is a grave behind it that belongs to the lady that used to own the home before it became an eating establishment. People really say it is haunted. At Mayport there is also another place they say is haunted where an old sea captain lived. One time I thought my home was built on an Indian gravesite, as I have had a pressure cooker to explode for no reason, and some strange things take place. This used to be the home of an Indian Plantation years before, and way back in the woods you can see evidence of Indian graves that are covered with oyster shells. They lived here and grew indigo. Greenfield Creek runs behind me, and no homes are back there, just the creek , land, and marsh. Spooky, but I love it. Lots of Indian artifacts have been found when digging foundations for new homes. We have a History Club and sometimes have meetings to show the artifacts that have been found. I sold a home once almost downtown with graves out the backdoor and under the shurbery. Some of them were children's graves. Mosy of the people would say, W hat is that, and leave in a hurry, I couldn't believe someone brought that house., Another time I showed someone a home that had a huge basement and part of the basement downstairs had lots of soil under the house, the woman I was showing it to ran screaming up those stairs and I never got her back in that house. I'm laughing, as I'll never forget her as long as I live. Her eyes were as large as a s saucer. . They lived in Marianna, Ar. in the Ms. delta, about 50 miles from Memphis, Tn. How fortunate your mom is to be having her 92nd birthday! How is her health? I just returned from spending the night in Jonesboro, Ar. with my daughter and 4 grandsons, after having kept my youngest grandson, Jayden (Scooter) who is 3 all weekend! I thouroughly enjoyed it, though. Love, Jin mfields155 wrote:Hi Jinney, It is so great to hear from you. Am getting ready for a trip Home for Mom's 92nd Birthday.
