We have spoken before (many yrs ago) so to refresh your memory, I descend from Elisha Stout Blackshear's son, Jacob thru his son Silas Malone, his son Simeon Marshall and his son David Harrison (my grandfather). I have been updating my Blackshaw/shear line and recently found The Record Society's (England) book that covers all of the Parish of Prestbury records from 1560 to 1636, online. It shows Thomas Blackshaw of Adlington was christened 2/22/1577 and Sara Davemport (Davenport)of Butley was christened on 3/10/1579. Thomas & Sara had several children that The Blacksheariana did not name, most of whom died, in infancy or young. In most cases they were noted, by the priest, as "son of" or "daughter of" (in latin) Thomas. The surname appears in the book, with several spellings (Blackeshaw, Blackeshae, Blackshow, and Blackshall) Their children were: #1 Thomas (#1) bapt 9/5/1606 buried 12/22/1606 #2 JOHN bapt 6/17/1608 #3 Marie (Mary) bapt 1/6/1610 #4 Anne bapt 6/17/1613 buried 6/20/1616 #5 William bapt 12/25/1616 #6 Thomas (#2) bapt 3/5/1618 buried 3/26/1619 #7 Paray (female) bapt 3/25/1621 Sara (Davenport) Blackshaw's burial records indicate "in temple" which means she is buried inside the church, as many are, in England. The record states "Mar 5, 1629 in temple, Sara Blackshawe ux (spouse of) Thomas" There is also a listing that I believe is for Thomas' first wife, Margaret Salisbury "9/29/1605 in temple, Margereet Blackshall(phonic spelling if pronounced "Blackshawl) While marriage records for John Blackshawe & "Mawde" (Maude) Barlowe are listed, I did not find her christening or a death record for her (yet), so it's possible she was born in another parish. The lack of a burial record suggests she also came to America with John and died in NJ as he did. I also found what may be the burial records for Thomas' parents William & Maude Bennet. The parish burial records indicate a William Blackshawe was buried 9/15/1613 and a Mawde Blackshawe was buried 12/10/1620, which would be in line with the typical lifespan of the 1600's. I haven't found marriage or burial records for John's sisters, Mary or Paray, so they to may have made it to America. I also found one possible marriage record for Robart Blackshawe, in fact it is the ONLY listing in the entire book for a Robert. 6/15/1562 a Robert Blackshawe married Ellen Waynewrighte. I found no death records for either but did find a marriage for a Ellen Blackshaw (but found no birth record for a Blackshaw by that name) who married 5/17/1589 to a John Warren of Poynton. If this is Robert's wife, that would suggest he died before 1589 and his wife remarried. If you wish to confirm all this, you can find the book, online (free) here: The register book of christenings, weddings, and burials, within the parish of Prestbury, in the county of Chester, 1560-1636 ... By Prestbury (England) http://books.google.com/books?id=NPAMAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA244&lpg=PA244&dq=Blackshaw Parish of Prestbury, England&source=bl&ots=GzDz5tpAe4&sig=GNVHtVMVD2kCAjtHnVdfta0F0vk&hl=en&sa=X&ei=gMFNUdSHGoaHqQHasoGQBQ&ved=0CEwQ6AEwBjgK#v=onepage&q=Blackshaw Parish of Prestbury, England&f=false I have just started to put this research together but have noted that footnotes in the book make reference to a Randall Davenport, which may be where that name comes from, since it does not appear in the Blackshawe/shear line, until after they came to America, so it's likely from Sara Davenport's line. It's also obvious that either John Blackshaw or his son, Robart, had more than one child...now sorting out who belongs to whom, may be a major project! Enjoy!
