Blackshear Sr., 60, who passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014. James was born April 18, 1953, in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning county) the son of James H. and Beverly A. (Thomas) Blackshear. James was a 1971 graduate of South High School, Youngstown, Ohio where he sang in the A Capella Choir. He worked as a chef at Niccolini's Restaurant. James enjoyed music and singing. He had a loving and generous heart and was loved very much by his family. James will be lovingly remembered by his mother of Youngstown; four children, James W. (Angela) Blackshear Jr., Jerrell Blackshear of Midland Texas, La Portia Eley of Atlanta, and Gerald Hardaway of Ohio; three siblings Gerald B. ( Cynthia) Blackshear of Pittsburgh, Robert V. Blackshear of Youngstown, and Terri D. ( Timothy) Tarr of Vienna, Ohio; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by a son, Christian Blackshear; his father, James H.; a sister, Gail J. Blackshear I.O.L A.; and a brother, Richard A. Blackshear. Friends may call Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon, prior to the Mass at St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oakhill Ave., in Youngstown, Ohio. Arrangements are through the F.D. Mason Funeral Home.
