This John Blackshear is might be the son of Jacob Blackshear & Judith Moore based on his year of birth. In 1800, Elisha Stout Blackshear & his son Jacob Blackshear were in Jones Co, NC and Abraham Blackshear (listed as Blackshire) was in Sampson Co, NC. Those were the only Blackshears, in NC in 1800. Jacob received land from the 1820 GA Land Lottery that was located in Irwin Co, GA (which is where Lowndes Co, GA was formed from). Jacob also had a son named Lewis Blackshear who is listed with your John on the 1830 Lowndes Co, GA census. Jacob's son, John had 3 wives: Nancy A Nesmith, Mary Blackshear (cousin, dau of Moses & Elizabeth Davis) & Mary Vinson who he married 12/25/1821 in Twiggs Co, GA. Except for Lewis, who was in the same county as your John Blackshear. The names of Jacob's son, John's, children are supposedly from John's bible, however, EVERY child listed was born after his marriage in 1821, to Mary Vinson, in Twiggs Co, GA. Jacob was listed on the 1818 Twiggs Co, GA tax list and was living there, in 1820, when he won the land in Irwin Co, on the GA land lottery. He had two other wives before her, so it's possible that Mary Blackshear (his 2nd wife) had a child and she died, before he married Mary Vinson. If so, the child could have been in a household of Mary's family or some other relative. I would not rule your Leonidus out as a son of Jacob's son, John, just yet. Mary Blackshear was the daughter of Moses Blackshear (d. 1822) who was Jacob's brother. I might help if you researched all Blackshear's that were in Twiggs Co, GA, especially those listed in 1818 and on an 1820 GA Land Lottery list.
