Blackshear, b. Jan. 1861, perhaps AR (according to census records), and she probably died before 1910 because my great-grandfather is living with one of his sons (both listed as single, though, not widowed or divorced). She married Henry Clay Conrad in 1880 at the age of 18; the marriage date is 20 June 1880 in Lincoln Co., AR with J.B. Blackshear listed under "security." I am hoping to find that J.B. is either her father or brother. So far, I have only found one possible listing in the census: (note: this states that this particular Lou Blacksher was black and born in LA, not AR; however, Louvenia has LA as her birthplace in the 1900 census) 1880 Lincoln Co., Arkansas Census, Kimbrough Twp.(enumerated 08 June 1880): 57/82/Blacksher/J./b/m/??/-/tennant/LA/SC/AL -/-/-/B./b/m/21/-/tennant/LA/SC/AL -/-/-/Lou/b/f/18/-/tennant/LA/SC/AL This Blackshear family is listed as black; do you have any ideas about how to go about tracing this line or do you know any black Blackshears? My grandparents were both listed as white in the census but that may have been a polite cover, depending on who gave the census taker the information. :-) I would very much appreciate any help or suggestions that anyone could offer, Jo-Ann Stephens Bahai@netusa1.net Indiana
