Dear List, I would first like to welcome all the new members that have joined our group. I found a few Blackledge marriages that can be found in this database: http://userdb.rootsweb.com/marriages/ Happy Hunting Linda
Hi list, My name is Bren and I'm researching the LEF(T)LEY surname. I have a John LEFLEY who marries Alice BLACKLEDGE 24th dec 1853 @ St George Chorley Lancashire, UK. John was age 30, and Alice was age 30. Alice's mothers name was Ann BLACKLEDGE. (John's father was Robert LEFLEY.) Then, 6 years later a Alice LEFLEY marries a Richard HART at the same church. Both bride and groom were previously married. Richards father was Peter HART. Alice's mother was again Ann BLACKLEDGE. Does anyone know of this Alice LEFLEY/HART nee BLACKLEDGE? would you agree that its the same Alice in both marriages, despite the discrepancy in age? I am looking for further information regarding Wiliam Blackledge who cameto America ca 1682, purchased land in Southhampton Twp., Bucks Co., PA and married Mary Duffield, daughter of Benjamin Duffield. He died in 1718. Known children were: (1) Benjamin who married in Philadelphia in 1728 to Sarah Philpot and moved to Johnson Co., NC in 1758, (2) Thomas born 1707, married in New Jersey 1730 to Elizabeth Randell/Randall, died 1790, Bucks Co., PA, (3) Robert, born in Bucks Co., PA, married in Philadelphia in 1732 to Elizabeth Howard, and (4) John, born in Bucks Co., PA, married in Philadelphia in 1736 to Briget Grimes. This family was Quaker. Am especially searching for origins of William Blackledge. I would assume that he was of English extraction, but that is yet to be proven.
Hello Blackledge Researchers, I would like to welcome the new mebers to the list. Please let us know who you are looking for and I we will try and help. I have the 1920 Wayne County, MS Federal census. And I will posting the Blackledge info that I find. I do have a printout of a Sheet(108-B) Beat 4. The reason I am putting this in is because my great-uncle Philp Hodge b. 1898 d. 1981 is 1 years old at this time. And his father could have been Allen Blackledge above. He stated this on his social security application that I have a copy of. Also I would like to add that Walter A. Blackledge son of Allen could NOT have been my grandmothers father. My grandmother was Velinda Hodge. In 1900 she was only 6 Years old. And Walter A. Blackledge was only 7 years old. Family memembers have told me that all of the Hodge kids by my great-grandma was fathered by a Blackledge. If anybody would like a look up in Ancestry.com let me know. Have a good day. Linda Hodge
Good morning: Found a Mary Gressett, shop keeper, that was listed on the delinquent tax list in SC. I kinda figure this is the same Mary that wed Zachariah Bl Martha
>I'm researching Allen Caslet Blackledge of Jones Co., MS. He was born 24 >March 1849 and later married Judie E. Brownlee. I am particularly >interested in their children. > Good morning. I read your post today and wondered if you had done any research on the name Caslet. I have seen that surname somewhere and was also wondering if we have corresponded before because someone had written me inquiring about a lady named Pearl, which I had never heard of before the first inquiry,. But if your Blackledge family is from Jones Co. then my pedigree Zachariah B. c1730 is also your pedigree since there was only one Blackledge family in Jones Co. MS. Martha
Dear Don, I am researching Allen Blackledge also. A Social Security application that was for my great Uncle Philip Hodge(b. 1897 Waynesboro, MS. d. 1981 Ellisville, Jones County, MS.) states that his father was Allen Blackledge. Philip's mother was Margaret Hodge-b. 1865-Wayne Co. MS. d.?) But as I sit here writing this a little voice in my head is saying : Get more proof! So I think what i will do is get a death certificate for my uncle and see what it says. The Hodges and Blackledges have been neighbors for along time. Another rumor that came from a realtive of mines is that my grandmother's father was Walter Allen Blackledge. But It can't be, he was only 3 years old when my grandma was born. So I continue to look. I just wish I could have spoken more to my family members when they were alive. When I get more info on my great Uncle Phil that is a little more solid I will let the list know. Have a good day. Linda Hodge
I'm researching Allen Caslet Blackledge of Jones Co., MS. He was born 24 March 1849 and later married Judie E. Brownlee. I am particularly interested in their children. Also researching Pearl Blackledge, born 26 March 1899, who married Houston Brownlee. Pearl is buried in Jones Co., as well. Don Brownlee
