In the Blackburn book written by Evelyn Gibson Copyright 1978, says in respect to Gamaliel, that King William awarded to Gamaliel was granted the Manor of Blackburn. On the west coast of northern England. It was suppose to be 10000 acre tract and the estate had 1,800 acre estate. In the book at the time of the writing it says the area is now the site of the city of blackburn. Gamaliel became Gamaliel de Blackburn, Lord of Blackburn Manor. The de in his name represents the Norman descent. There is alot more talking about the lineage from Gamaliel , to Gilbert, to John to Henry de Blackburn living about 1160. Then two sons, Richard and Adam. The one son Richard had a son he named Adam. Adam had two daughters. There is more. The source used was William Alexander Abram, Blackburn, the Descent of the Manor; The de Blackburn Family (Blackburn, Eng.: j.G. &J. Toulmin, 1877),pp 249-255. Blackburn, Encyclopedia Brittanica, 1960, III, 680. Perhaps you would like to go to the www.blackburn-tree.org For me it was well worth the money.
