    1. [BLKBURN] Musical Blackburns
    2. Has anyone ever noticed the trend that Blackburns tend to be musical? I wonder if I'm the only one. I have many musical Blackburns, or musical members of my family who descends from a Blackburn...... I have talked to others, both of my family and not of my family..... (Other Blackburns) and they have also said that their Blackburns and related descendants are musical. Or tend to be very musical. Up until a year ago, I wouldn't have said I was musical. I was far from it, but I've picked up the piano pretty quickly.... Others have noticed I have understood things about the piano better than others in my class. And I keep thinking.... its my Blackburns! I heard a funny quote a few days ago..... someone told me that they do genealogy to "find out who to blame...." for their curly hair, athletic talent, grey eyes.... etc. I think that it is funny, but also very true.... you can learn alot from your ancestors. And about where you get certain traits. For instance, my great grandmother was a 6'3 Swedish woman..... several inches taller than my great grandfather. I'm 6'2 or so, and because all my other ancestors rarely have gone above 5'10 I have basically decided I am definitely my great grandmother Marchants descendant. Its interesting. I bet if you looked, you could find characteristics of yourself in your ancestors. Brad

    3. Brad, Interesting observation! My dad played the violin (actually, the "fiddle"), and sang at the drop of a hat..."I've Been Workin' On the Railroad" was a melodic favorite of his...and, gosh, I can hear him singing it right now, from far away in my youth... Thanks for the memory jog... JoAnne Blackburn Hilton
