    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Blackburn Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SNE.2ACIB/1282 Message Board Post: When I began reading your query I immediately thought of the Joseph Blackburn of Washington County. I just entered a query on this board about him last night. I wonder if it could be the same Joseph. There is another Blackburn in Crawford County Indiana. His name was Ephraem Blackburn married to Elizabeth who came from Kentucky. He had a brother named James. Their father was Samuel Blackburn of VA who also moved to Ky. My puzzle is my great grandmother Nelly Blackburn. She is shown in her obit as being born in Crawford County which would make you think she was born to Ephraem, but the lists people have of Ephraem's children do not include a Nelly, or a Nancy. James on the other hand, does have a Nelly and a Nancy (who is living next to Nelly in the l840 census in Crawford Co) and a Malenda (and a Malenda shows up living with Nelly in l850 census). So I am wondering if James lived in Indiana in l8l9 when Nelly was born, but went back to Ky or something???? I have been hoping to find out the names of Joseph Blackburns children. In the l820 census he had six...and the ages are right for Nelly and Nancy to have been among them if he was the father. Maybe he is related to the other two men...and they named children with similar names. I have found that with my Meek family. Any ideas?

    3. Have you all seen Joseph Blackburn's will? It was probated on 25 Sept, 1828 in Orange County, IN. It says he was "late from Bedford County Pennsylvania" and lists brother-in-law, Joseph Potts of Paoli, and his infant daughter, Jane Eliza Blackburn. It mentions sister Margaret Blackburn of Bedford Co. Pa, and a number of sisters and brothers of the Joseph Potts mentioned. I am descended from Ephraim Blackburn who was in Crawford Co. and I do not believe there was any connection between him and Joseph. Ephraim was from Warren Co. KY and before that, NC. Nor do I show Nelly, although he did have a daughter Malinda.
