Sam researched our Blackburn family for more than 40 years both here in Wilkes and anywhere else he could go chasing down leads on our family. G3 William was born in Va. in about 1764. He shows up in Wilkes County, NC before 1788 when my G2 Grandfather John Blackburn was born. William remained here ins Wilkes until his death sometime after the 1850 census. The Wilkes County Genealogical Society has quite a few records on the early settlers of Wilkes County which was one of the first places settled while we were still under English rule. I know that some of the early members of our family went to Indiania, Tennessee, Texas and probably a lot of places that I haven't read about. We seem to be part of an extremely large family that were among the early settlers of the Sout! h both before and after we became a nation. Sorry I don't have any information on your specific Blackburn. You could also try New River Notes on the net which did have some Blackburn information. Best regards, Don Blackburn
