I know there was quite a discussion on a research page for all lines. Did any one start one? I have a suggestion and it would not require any ONE person to set it up. I have 4 separate "cousin" research pages on Ancestry using the FREE service My Family.com To see an overview go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/main/myfamily.asp Just recently they have added a new service you can post GEDCOM files. Each member [you have to be invited and have a password to view these files] can add additional information or post a separate GEDCOM Now this has worked very well on my "cousin" direct lines but I think this would work well for a surname group. I am trying to keep this short and to the point so I will list some examples of how this might work for a GROUP of researchers not DIRECTLY connected. 1. The research page is PRIVATE but anyone [let's say] on the mailing list could join. 2. List members that have done a lot of research could post their GEDCOM's naming them VA Benjamin Branch or SC John Branch then researchers could add additional material or make corrections. You could post pictures including scanned documents. NOTE one nice feature on "My Family" anytime a change or new material is made you get an email telling you that "Bill" has added pix or "Mary" has posted some new material. 3. IT'S VERY EASY TO USE and even if you have never had a web page or uploaded to the web, no problem. We just had a 81 year old cousin post pictures. Any way it's just an idea and the big thing no one is responsible for doing all the work it's private until we "as a group" want to make our work public. I have maintained a web page for over 3 years and hosted mailing lists and county pages. It's very time consuming and I cannot keep up with everything and work just not enough hours. If anyone is interested in this concept I would be happy to set up a Blackburn research page so you can check it out. I would invite you to one I have but those are "private" cousin pages. Anyway it's an idea. Barbara Guinn My direct line is Benjamin b 1765 VA? d 9/7/1843 KY my web page is Grandmas Front Porch - Genealogy
