Thanks for trying to be sure things are right- it is hard enough to do research without the brick walls of mis-information. My main source isTHE BENJAMIN BLACKBURN FAMILY and notes on BLACKBURNS IN AMERICA by W.A Challacombe, 1942. Mr. Challacombe was a descendant of Benjamin Blackburn. I have also found several biographical sketches of Rev. Gideon and family history too. Gideon Blackburn did have a son John Newton who was a Presbyterian minister in that area of KY. I have the impression from things I have found in both TN and KY that the Blackburns of whatever stripe tended to call each other "cousin" even when they were not really blood kin. Miriam Blackburn
