It's been awhile since I've posted, so I thought I'd try again. Looking for siblings and parents (I'll take a cousin too, but I'm afraid he married one) of William BLACKBURN b. 11 May 1814 Knoxville, Knox Co, TN (obit). My research leads me to believe he was probably born in Grainger Co, TN. My research also has me looking real hard at John BLACKBURN & Jemima BOULTON/BOULTER as his possible parents. The 1880 census says dad was b. in NC, and mom b. in VA. I know that Jemima was b. in VA. Older family reseach says his father was a Thomas BLACKBURN, who was one of the 12 sons of James BLACKBURN who went to KY (8 of the sons: William, David, Robert, John, Thomas, Rankin, Simeon, George). I no longer believe this is true. William is in Franklin Co, IN no later than August, 1840, as his first daughter is born 20 May 1841 (family Bible that everyone quotes, but no one has seen). Census records do verify Cynthia being b. in 1841, though. William then m. Susan(nah) BOULTON/BOLTON, dau of Peter BOUTON & Salomy (or Saloma) COFFMAN. Peter is the brother of Jemima BOULTON up above, on 12 May 1843 in Franklin Co, IN. In 1850, they are in Franklin Co, IN, in 1860 the are in Decatur Co, IN, in 1870 they are in Tipton Co, IN, in 1880 they are in Richardson Co, NE. They are in Oregon, Holt Co at the time of William's death in 1888. Susan d. in the Poor House there on 6 Nov 1901. She had been in there 3 times that I know of between 1900 and her death. Their children: 1. Cynthia BLACKBURN b. 20 May 1841 Franklin Co, IN. No further info. 2. John F. BLACKBURN b. 20 Feb 1844 Franklin Co, IN. I think the Bible went down his line. He is the one that wrote in it in 1877. 3. Andrew J. BLACKBURN b. 20 or 30 Oct 1845 Franklin Co, IN, m. pre 1876 in IN to Maria SMETZER. Had a son named Frank T. I don't know of the others yet. 4. Thomas J. BLACKBURN b. 10 or 20 Jan 1848, Franklin Co, IN. He was still single at the age of 52. 5. Perry C. BLACKBURN b. 4 or 8 Oct 1849 Franklin Co, IN. He was still single at the age of 50. 6. Francis Lafayette (sometimes, just Lafayette) BLACKBURN b. 7 Jul 1853 or 1855 in Cicero Twp? in IN. He m. in 1870 to Susan MULHALL. He d. 1927 in IN. 7. James M. BLACKBURN b. 15 Oct 1855 or 1856 in IN. No other info. 8. Mary E. BLACKBURN b. 20 Aug 1857 IN. No further info. 9. Elihu Merritt BLACKBURN b. 20 Jun 1859 in IN, m. 24 Sept 1885 in White Cloud, KS to Zerilda Caroline SMITH. He died 5 Jul 1910. I descend from this line. I have been in contact with some of his descendants. They don't have info going back :( 10. George F. BLACKBURN b. 10 or 20 Mar 1862 or 7 May 1864 (I think that is a mistake. His obit says 7 May 1862. Some folks miscopy dates. See kid below). His obit says he was b. Newburgh, IN. He checked into the Poor House with his mother on May 10, 1900 and d. the next day. He was apparently unmarried. 11. Gallanding BLACKBURN. Some researchers have reported his name as Clement L., Clement V., Clement L.V. and even Christine! He was b. 7 May 1864 (no, he was not a twin on any census) in IN. He was still single at age 36. Anyone out there run across this family? Thanks, Cheri Mello Torrance, CA [email protected]
