There are many Samuel Blackburns. The Samuel who m. Eleanor Province/Provine had known brothers Benjamin, William and John (who died 1755.) There may have been other un-identified siblings. There are some researchers who state John Blackburn was the name of the father of these brothers but I have not found any evidence to support this and those who make the claim have not been forthcoming with evidence. The naming patterns of the children of John and Benjamin do not support John being the name of their father. John named his son James and Benjamin named his firstborn Benjamin.
