My great grandmother's name was Mary Estelle Blackburn. She was born in North Carolina; I believe in Union County. She and her sister Ola were placed in an orphanage in Greensboro, NC. At some point in time she and her sister lived with their grandfather(?) Alexander M. Blackburn. Alexander was married more than once. I do not know his first wife's name, but his second wife's name was Tressia or Theresa. They had a daughter named Nanvy V. Blackburn in South Carolina. Ola eventually married Henry Rich and had two daughters, Millicent and Frances Rich. My great grandmother married Ralph Norman Burgess and had ten children. I only know a few of their names: Clifton, Edward, Isabelle, Mary June, and Caroline. Mary's assumed birth date was 16 November 1897. She died on 3 January 1973. We have tried going to Union County to check their records, but Sherman burned them on his trip to the Atlantic du! ring the Civil War. Please help if you can.
