John Lewis and Matilda Blackburn Bowman are found on the Benton/Calhoun County, Alabama census for 1840 and 1850. By 1860, they are found living on the Brazos/Robertson county, Texas line, near Wheelock and Benchley. This area was originally settled in the 1830s by the Robertson Colony. There are many Bowmans, Blackburns, Henrys, Seales, and Reeds in this Brazos/Robertson area about 1850. Matilda and John moved after 1860 to Falls/McLennan county area and are buried in Eddy, Texas, near Waco. Betsy Davis
