This message is to clarify some confusion concerning Thomas, William, and Hudson Blackburn. Thomas Blackburn came to Floyd County Ky. ca 1806 from Virginia. A 1809 Floyd county record documents the marriage of William Blackburn and Jenny Maynard. William was born in 1790 and is considered a son of Thomas due to the age difference of over 25 years. First record of Hudson (b-1795) is the 1820 census. He was married to Mary ? and there is no record of the marriage. The name Mary comes from the 1850 Pike County census. Lately some people have been using the name Mary Roman which is unconfirmed. The use of the Roman name with old Hudson is probably due to confusion with the younger Hudson who married a Roman. It is noted that the name Hudson was used by the Akers family (Hudson Akers) in Buckingham Co VA. The names Thomas, William and Hudson have been used continuously in the Blackburn family up to and including present times. Ron Blackburn [email protected]
