    3. I missed the original message on these surnames, but I, too, am interested in the surnames Simmons and Blackburn in Westmoreland County. My greatgrandfather William Blackburn was in an inn or boarding house in the 1870 census run by a Simmons or Simonds in Penn Twp.. My aunt May Blackburn married a Simmons. William Blackburn was born Ireland 1840, by 1870 to USA, married Sarah Brinton, resided in Penn Twp from at least 1870 to about 1905 when the family moved to California. I am searching for the ancestry of this William Blackburn (one of MANY who were wandering about in Western PA in the 1800s!). His children were May (married Simmons), my grandfather William John, Grace (married Paddison), Samuel Z., and Eleanor. I also have a DICKS line - Peter died 1804 in Chester County PA. Associated names: Darlington, Brinton. Any informatin on this William Blackburn will be appreciated and reciprocated. I am copying other related lists for their input. Bill Blackburn Mt.
