Hi, I have a mystery Benjamin Blackburn, son of Robert Blackburn and Margaret Ritchie. b about 1769 so is probably too old for yours. Is Mary Hartley possible a second wife? He was probably born in VA before his parents got to TN. He was a brother of the Rev. Gideon Blackburn. Since your Benjamin moved around so much is it possible he was a preacher? This line was mainly Presbyterian but some, especially those on the frontier , joined other denominations. There was a John Nelson who was close to the Blackburn family in E TN. I believe he may have been a Pres. minister who was in KY for a time. Another member of his family was a preacher/teacher in MO and IL. The name John Nelson Blackburn does occur in the family. If your Benjamin belongs with this line,I would expect to find one of his children named Gideon and a Robert. There are so many Benjamins in this line that it is possible yours belongs.
