Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SNE.2ACIB/1146.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Wow - this getting weird!!! My mother's maiden name was Thompson... and I'm not exactly sure, as I am still researching, but they may have been "Novy" fishermen, also.... Anyway, Bessie and George had 3 children: J. Austin Reed Addie Kathleen and a third whom I can't think of right now, as I am in Washington, and my stuff is at home. At any rate, J. Austin died of lockjaw (tetanus as we now call it)from an explosion of a fireworks "gun" that exploded in his hand. He was approximately 8 years old at the time; the 2nd son died very young from influenza, and my Grandmother was the remaining child. She married Charles Benjamin Dolloff and they had 2 sons, Preston and Charles Austin. Charles Austin, or C.Austin, as he was called, was my father. I have a brother who is named after Howard Blackburn. We have (someplace) a bunch of pictures of Howard Blackburn. My sister has them currently, as she is caring for my Mom and Sis has packed them away and we may not see them for a few yea! rs...LOL!!! When I do find them, I will scan and provide copies. I live in Springfield, MA, and have sisters and sons who also live in Maine, so we get up there when we can. I will see what I can come up with!!! I will also peruse the myriad of information I have purchased and see if I can pick up the trail!!! Thanks...Cousin!!!! Jerry

If I knew the grandparents, I could search from there. I am sure Nan Forbes has passed, as my Grandmother has. My Grandmother was Addie Reed Dolloff. Her mother (my Great Grandmother) was Bessie Blackburn. Since Howard and Theresa had no children, he would dote on his nieces, particularly Addie. She spent many summer months with him at Gloucester. I would have to think, on reflection, that Nan must have passed several years before my Grandmother, as my Grandmother was the recipient of the first City of Gloucster Mariner's Medal, which she was given as the nearest living blood relative of Howard Blackburn. I have seen many Blackburns listed, but have had no way of following the trail to England, or Scotland, without some names. Unfortunately, my Grandmother did not leave any information relative to Howrad's family. If you would be willing to share, I would be willing to do some in-depth research as to his ancestry, and share any information! gained with you.

    1. [BLKBURN] William BLACKBURN in 1930 OHIO Census
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: STATLER, COLLINS, REINHEIMER, BOOMERSHINE, SWARTZEL, GREER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/SNE.2ACIB/1148 Message Board Post: I discovered a William Blackburn on a 1930 Ohio census while researching my STATLER line. I thought I would come to the BLACKBURN message board and see if anyone might be searching for this young man. He was lodging with my ancestors, Clyde and Florence STATLER in Miami Co. at the time. It's reported on that census that he was 13 at the time, making the time of his birth about 1917. But that could be wrong, as the census-taker, also misquoted my ggGrandmother's real name and her place of birth, as well as that of her parents. On this census, it also states that William BLACKBURN was born in Canada, his father was born in England, and his mother in California. If you're searching for this William BLACKBURN, I have the census image. Let me know at sharonstatler@myfamily.com, and I'll be happy to forward it to you. Of course, Ancestry.com has all the census images, if you're a member.

I know the names of his brothers and sister, his parents and grandfather's name but I cannot find out where the grandfather was born. Can you fill in any of my blanks? I would be interested to have information which might be supplied by his niece. Would she know anything about her g-grandfather? If I could connect the two families, I have lots of information to share.

I think that the common thread is Buckingham Co Va and the Blackburns living there around 1760. Ron Blackburn
