    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Long, Blackburn, Bengtson, Alkire, Atchley, and others Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/SNE.2ACIB/1250.1 Message Board Post: Hi Carol, I have some information that may help. There were a Father -Son Elias Blackburn in VA at that time. Sr. Elias b. abt 1666 (wife Unknown), d. in Essex County VA. Caroline Co. was split off from Essex Co. abt 1720. Jr. Elias Blackburn b. 1689 and d. 1770 in Caroline Co. VA. was married to Margaret Boulware abt 1683 in St. Annes Parrish. She died aft 1751. I suspect this would be the Elias mentioned in the 1747 court case of Patrick Welsh as Sr. would be abt 81, but Jr. would be 58. Interestingly, Jr.'s brother(or Uncle?) Ambrose was constable in Caroline Cty in 1749-50. My source for all this is a Blackburn researcher, Paul Mears, who has helped me considerably. I would be interested in getting copies of the court records, if you have them available.

She was the daughter of Henry/Harry Blackburn and Ester Moore. Henry was born in Newfoundland, Canada (abt 1846). He went to Nashville, Tenn. where he married Ester who was born here in 1856. Both Ester and Henry's parents came from England. Kitty may be adopted! I am researching this Moore family. They were in Manchester, England for one generation and prior to this in County Down, Ireland. This family appears in the 1880, Cook County, Chicago, Illinois Census.

    2. Lee Blackburn
    3. Hello All, I have just changed email addresses (from lblackburn@vvci.net to LRBlackburn@comcast.net) so I thought I would post my line again. I descend from a line of Blackburn from the Smith Co. / DeKalb Co. Tennessee area. My GGF was Shelah Blackburn. His father was William Thomas Blackburn and his GF was also a William Blackburn. The first William had a brother Joseph Blackburn, who was fairly well know in the Civil War, at least locally, and active in getting pensions for vets for years after the war. Joseph, William and another brother named Charlie all fought with the Union. My Blackburns have lived in Brush Creek, Liberty, Dowellton, and Cottage Grove. Shelah married Minervia SAULMON, William T. married Amy Lou BRASWELL, and the first William married a Mary BAIRD. Would like to hear from anyone with ties to or information on this line. Lee Blackburn McCracken Co., KY

Surnames: Blackburn Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/SNE.2ACIB/1254 Message Board Post: My grandmother has been searching for her mother's birth parents for several years. My great grandmother's name was Mary Estelle Blackburn. She was born in North Carolina; I believe in Union County. She and her sister Ola were placed in an orphanage in Greensboro, NC. At some point in time she and her sister lived with their grandfather(?) Alexander M. Blackburn. Alexander was married more than once. I do not know his first wife's name, but his second wife's name was Tressia or Theresa. They had a daughter named Nanvy V. Blackburn in South Carolina. Ola eventually married Henry Rich and had two daughters, Millicent and Frances Rich. My great grandmother married Ralph Norman Burgess and had ten children. I only know a few of their names: Clifton, Edward, Isabelle, Mary June, and Caroline. Mary's assumed birth date was 16 November 1897. She died on 3 January 1973. We have tried going to Union County to check their records, but Sherman burned them on his trip to the Atlantic du! ring the Civil War. Please help if you can.
