    1. [BLKBURN] William Blackburns
    2. robin jerkins
    3. Good Lord! Seems like almost every Blackburn researcher gets stuck on a William. I found one very nice man who's apparently the only other person in the universe studying my Blackburn line, and from him I got my G2-grandfather's parents and grandparents. Only problem is, we're stuck at my G4 grandfather, whose name is WILLIAM (born in Va., died in N.C., 1700s). So many Williams ... could be worse, though. In another branch of my family tree, there were three generations of men named John who all married women named Mary. Thank God nobody's last name was Smith. >From: [email protected] >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [BLKBURN] not alone >Date: Sun, 23 Jan 2000 13:35:18 EST > >In a message dated 1/23/2000 7:59:50 AM Pacific Standard Time, >[email protected] writes: > ><< parish records were carefully made (unless you were > Roman Catholic, which can be a problem). >> > >Liz, > >Why? 3. Robin, I haven't had a lot of luck tracing any of my lines. Even in America. Most of my finds have been, Either dumb luck or obits. My Blackburns are stuck in England. My lambs in Illionis. My Johns line in Ohio. My Edmonds, Kuntz and Adams i only one name in each. And my Adams was adopted. But i will figure it out. But i have had some success. I met my cousin Rick in person. I had a missing piece for the Stocker family. I have been in contact with relatives i never knew i had. In answer to your question, No it's not easier. But family is fun and rewarding. Mark Johns

    3. Liz, The only place i have a name for is Kingslow upon Hull. This is off of my grandmother's Entry of Birth Dated 18,July,1896. There are a couple of addreses on it. 12 Youlton street U.D. and 14 Jackson street Hull. The mother's name Florence Gertrude Blackburn. Father Henry Edmond. witness Martha Blackburn (the grandmother). The sub-district looks like hyton or maybe ayton. Is any of that near Lancashire ? Mark Johns

    3. Hello Mark, I'm in the same boat - my Blackburns are all from Lancashire. My grandparents emigrated to Canada in 1903 with the Barr Colony, haven't been able to figure out what happened to the ones left behind. You have any in Lancs? 3. I am researching ancestry of John Blackburn, married circa 1914 Victoria Sparks, Pike County KY. This John Blackburn a son of Winfield Blackburn. They were parents of large family - one of their sons was Harold Ray "Whitey" Blackburn, born Pike County KY & died Nov 30, 1998 in Detroit Michigan. Any others connected to this line? -----Original Message----- From: Gerald H. 3. Liz and Mark: You have my sympathies ... I've only found one other person in the U.S. researching my particular branch of the Blackburn family. On the other hand, I'm a little jealous, because I'm trying to trace us BACK TO the U.K., and you're already there. Is it easier to find information on the family in the U.K. than it is here? (Apparently my Blackburns had an aversion to keeping good family records). Cheers! If we can prove my Benjamin Franklin and yours are the same person then he would be an older brother to my direct line and one of 10 know children of Benjamin and Elizabeth [Kennedy] from VA died Pendleton Co KY 1843 & 1850 All this has been proven and we have records of the Blackburn cemetery in Pendleton Co KY where Elizabeth and Benjamin are buried. Several members of this family did move to IN My direct Alanson (younger brother to Benjamin) moved to Kirkland Township, Frankfort, Clinton County, Indiana and died there after 1860 His son John Kannada died in Elwood, Madison County, Indiana. 3. I have been considering this for some time but, I need your input. Do we need a web site where we can not only share our BLACKBURN data with each other but also reach a more general audience? This would not be something that I would want to do alone, I would need everyone's support, ideas and help. We could start small maybe just have everyone who wants to, send in a 4 to 5 generation chart. (no living persons, please). I know that while searching for my BLACKBURN's I find much more information on 'other' BLACKBURN lines. So I could not only share what little I have on mine but might be able to help someone else with the extra information that has been considered and deemed, "not mine" but surely it is somone's. Think about it, let me know. No one person can do this kind of thing it will take everyone's cooperation to make a nice information page for BLACKBURN researchers. I would like to have one or two assistants to help upload. I use an older version of WP and I have MS Word 2000. I can use MS Excel 2000 for tables, so If you would like to volunteer and have these programs or some different from these, please consider volunteering to help maintain the page, if we decide to go ahead.
