Just wondered if anyone knew if the following book was covered by copywrite any longer. The Benjamin Blackburn Family and Notes on Blackburns in America by W. A. Challacombe (1942). Sheila in WA state
Come on, we can't have a roll call unless YOU let everyone know who, where, when you need help with. Go ahead and post, and give the other members a chance to help!! They can't "see" you. It time for the 100 or so subscribers that we never hear from to take the plunge. Kay Griffin Snow
Beverly, I too come from that same couple (Ben & Elizabeth) If you ever find out where they come from, please let me know. I understand from people who have researched this family long before I ever thought of it, that there is some controversy about the number of children that they had. Does the following info. agree or disagree with your info? Edmund Leroy b. 1785 abt. - d ? marr abt. 1819 to Frances Hodges John b bef. 1785 Levi Morphew b 1794 - d 1871 marr bef 1862 to Sarah Greer Sarah "Sally" b 1798 - d 1883 marr 1813 to John M Morphew (Murphy) Thanks for checking and responding. I am looking for my Blackburn ancestors, namely Hamilton B. Blackburn, probably born in NC. Married Elizabeth A. Hart date and place unknown, but probably NC, in the Northwestern part. Had 2 sons, and 2 daughters. William R, George Washington, Margaret S. and Cora R. George was born about 1863 according to what I have been able to come up with. He was my maternal Gfather. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Herbert Chambers
Joyce!!!! Thanks for the input!!! I remember so well hearing my great grandmother Susie (the daughter of Cave Johnson Blackburn) mention a Martin Blackburn but I couldn't find him anywhere. I think she must have been very fond of her half brother for she mentioned him often. Incedentally just a little family info. Did you know that my g gramma Susie became hopelessly mentally ill. I believe that she may have become schizophrenic! In her later years she became increasingly violent. Mary: I would really appreciate the info on Catherine's family. All I have is that she was married to Flem Varney. My connection to Catherine is: Hutson Blackburn married Mary Katherine Romans (daughter) Sarah "Sallie" married Flem Varney (daughter and Sarah's older sister) Jane married James B. Morgan Morris. James B. was the son of my gt gt grandfather Ambrose Morris III. I am also connected to Flem, but I'm not sure how that comes down yet as I don't yet have Flem's father, siblings or ancestors. Nancy Varney (Va.) married Ambrose Morris Jr. (the father of Ambrose Morris III mentioned above). Ambrose Jr. brought his young family to Kentucky, deserted them there, went back to Va and married a Polly Coleman. Ambrose III was 1 year old to the day when Ambrose Jr. married Polly. He sounds like a cad in capital letters, huh? Somehow, James B. and Flem are related, but I don't know to what degree. Nancy would have been James' grandmother. Confused enough? It makes even my head swim trying to figure it all out. Mary, I have a cousin on my "foreign" side that married a woman who has Varney connections in NH, I think. At any rate, it is in the New England area. Are your Varney's around there? Cheri Mello Torrance, CA
The following is a copy of the message I sent yesterday, I hope this will explain why your message did not reach the list. The message bounced because the email address you sent it from was not on the list of subscribers. You should be able to post from <[email protected]> now. Kay ********* This has been puzzling me also. So I checked and you are subscribed under the email address: [email protected] and you are sending the messages from: [email protected] and that address was not subscribed until a few minutes ago. I unsubscribed the first email and now you are subscribed under the @ns2.icon.net address. That should clear things up.

Kay, I received a message that I had been unsubscribed which I did not request, but have re-subscribed. I emailed to [email protected] my Blackburn line and have never seen it posted. What did I do wrong and do I need to resumit? Thanks for any advice or help you can give me along this line or others. DeLoris Howell PO Box 850407 Yukon, OK 73085
