Great idea. This should keep us all up to date on the latest Blackburn discoveries. Thanks for all your hard work. Don
Thank you, I think it would be a great idea to gateway the others. Jean Miami mailto:[email protected]
I have read the questions that you got about this, but I still don't understand just what it means. I can see that it can connect things, but can't get the picture. Sorry to be so dense, but I am pretty new about all this. Hi, I think it would be a good idea. This list doesn't have a large volume of mail and I know I need every bit of info and help I can find for the twisted mess of Blackburns that I descend from. Rebecca Sonoma County, CA
On the site where Linda placed Elizabeth Blackburn's will is other information of interest to Blackburn researchers. In the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery are listed: Cora E. Will you please explain what gatewayed means or do I have to know or will the messages about it come to me anyhow? Thank you Jean Almond Miami Fl mailto:[email protected]
Another new tool, it just keeps getting better... I just finished making the change so that all queries posted to the Blackburn GenConnect query board will to gatewayed to the mail list. Thanks to Rootsweb.com and Tim P for this new tool. Kay Griffin Snow
My wife, Mary April Blackburn, is also descended from John Blackburn and Nancy Maxwell, So I also would be very interested in any material on John and Nancy. My wifes father was William Maxwell Blackburn. His g father was also a William Maxwell Blackburn. It is interesting to note the persistance of the Maxwell name. I have no info on Nancy's parents.
I have rented through my Family history library, the soundex-s for Kansas 1880, Missouri 1920, I would like to make them indefinite in this library but can't afford the additional $14.00 it would take right now. If fellow Blackburn researchers in these 2 states would like to help me pay for these, I will take the time to abstract them for the mailing list and if it helps someone I will take a copy (cost .25) for whoever. Let me know as they are to be returned in a week. The cost is $7.00 for each roll, I already paid the $3.50 each roll to rent them. [email protected]

Hi Jean, I don't know of any of the BLACKBURNS immigrating but then a few years ago I had a second cousin contact me and her grandfather was the brother of my grandfather. I had only heard very vaguely that there was such a relative who had "immigrated to America." His name was WILLIAM ROSTRON and I think it must have been very early this century that he immigrated - from the same area of Co. Durham as JOSEPH BLACKBURN lived. WILLIAM ROSTRON settled in Illinois. Another relative, DANIEL HADLEY came out from that same area in 1913 and settled in New Philadelphia, Ohio. So I had another second cousin come to visit me! Do you know when your Joseph immigrated and where he came from? It would be nice to find some connection - even if only the place where your Joseph came from. There were a number of Joseph Blackburns in the area. Ann in Ontario, Canada. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~. As far as I know Joseph Blackburn was born in Co. Durham England aound the Tanfield area about 1792. He died in his 100th year at a place called The Hobson. I'm not certain of his place of birth but I am of his place of death. He had a daughter Isabella who married ?? Mordue. She was born in 1814 (have been unable to find her birth but have her death certificate which follows through on information I had received.) She died in 1914 in her 100th year around the Tanfield area. I would be most interested to hear of any Blackburns or Mordue's you have come accross in Co. Durham or neighbouring counties. Thanks for responding. Ann. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [email protected] wrote: > Joseph Blackburn born where? Have some in my ancestors but they are from Pa.

Just noted you were searching the surname Blackburn and wondered if any of your roots led back to Nova Scotia. I am searching this family name and some of my lines went to the US. I am searching for information on Johnny Blackburn and Mary McAllister Blackburn. They were living around Tuckerman, Jackson Co., AR. They both died in the 1940's. They had 2 children my mother remembers, Gracie and Alberta. This is the only information I have for them. Would like to fill in the blanks. Mary McAllister Blackburn is my grandmother's sister. my grandmother is Rosie McAllister who married George Martin in Independence County, AR in 1903. Bonnie Dodson [email protected]
Saw these two names together on Grantee Index A-E Land and Property Index, Chester Co., PA, 1792, Bk H2, p. 310. Is there anyone who would check this out for me?
