I am trying to locate information on my great great grandfather. He was probably born circa 1835-1840 in Fulton County Arkansas. He married, to whom I do not know. He had a daughter, Mattie E., born 1-16-1869. It has been mentioned that Mattie had a brother possibly named also. Mattie married Jesse Riley Martin of Fulton County Arkansas, 10-29-1885. To this union was born a son, William or Walter 11-30-1886. This son died at a young age. A daughter was born 1-22-1890. Rose Etta was her name. Mattie E. died 4 days after giving birth to Rose Etta, 1-26-1890. It is said that James Blackburn died at Pargould Arkansas (Greene County) Mattie maybe buried at Shiloh Cemetery, Fulton County Arkansas. I can't seem to locate any info on James, who he married, and about his children. If you can provide any information, or tell me what, when, where to look. Thanks....Janet Jones
My g-g-grandmother Edna (Ednie) Blackburn married my g-g-grandfather Samuel Augustus Lemons in 1870 in Grayson Co Texas. She was born Sept 26, 1852. She died June 14, 1887 at only 34 years of age. I have searched for years trying to discover her parents. Samuel's sister Ann Lemons married Lewis Blackburn in Cooke Co Texas in 1872. I have just discovered that Lewis was the son of James W. Blackburn and Mary Catherine Denton of Orange Co IN and then Clay Co IL. Is there a possibility that Ednie was a sibling to Lewis or perhaps a cousin? I know the Crutsingers moved from Orange Co IN to Clay Co IL to Cooke Co Texas. In fact Ezekial Crutsinger married Samuel and Ann's sister Sarah Elizabeth Lemons. I have to believe that Ednie was somehow connected with the Blackburns of IN and IL. Any connections? Norma Karter
These items from the old newspaper are interesting even if they do not relate to my family. Thanks for sharing. Enos and Elizabeth Blackburn was in Robertson County, Tn. in the early 1800. We think Isreal Blackburn was his father. At 05:58 PM 4/1/00 -0800, you wrote: >Hi, > >I think it would be a good idea. Yes all queries that are added to the BLACKBURN GenConnect Query board will be gatewayed/ sent to this list. If you need to contact the person who added the information you need to follow the link from that message, many times those who post the queries are not members of this list. My spell check tells me that I am making up the word "gatewayed", hey that is what I was told it was by those who know more about gatewaying than I do. Kay
Here is another member who does not understand "gatewayed." I just guessed that it means what is put on the other websites is sent through "the gate" to our Blackburn list. Is that it, more or less? Pat
