    1. [BK] request for a third type of date range

    3. My ancestor George Weightman was a Coalminer on 0_041871 and on 0_041881 (i. e. the dates of the 1871 and 1881 censuses). I put those dates into the two date boxes for the "Occupation" line. However, it certainly isn't "Event happened sometime between date 1 and date 2"; I don't really think it is "Starting date and ending date" either, though I select that as being closer. I imagine that particular occupation was the case from when he was old enough to go down the pit until the day he died (in the case of this occupation, not infrequently as a result of it, either mining accident or respiratory disease). I get similar for "Resided" and "Resided (family)" - if s/he/they were living in the same place on two dates, I expect they were there before and after as well. So could we have a third category in the "Date range" box - something like "event may have extended beyond the range" (or "beyond these dates")? (I suspect that for most people this is actually far commoner than knowing the exact start and end dates of some ongoing "event" like an occupation or residence, though that may be the case for a few [such as _perhaps_ education], which is why I'm suggesting a third type of range rather than replacing the second.) Many information are only fact at a certain date and not in a daterange. Many of what are noticed under Edit in the tab are given as Event/facts and you must use this carefully and not always use daterange. The result in the report is important, e.g. we do not use daterange for birth marriage death etc For Resided we might use it. That depends on the information from the sources. Is the information in a waythat daterange is normal use that. If a centure tells each time that he was a miner you are more sure to use daterange, but if the information in a centure are diffent each time, you only knew the fact at the specific moment. -- Otto Jørgensen http://www.bkwin.info/ All email is checked by NORTON

    2. Hello, Great idea. I too have missed this "third kind of data range" quite often. Something like "was a miner at least between 1871 and 1881". Heiko "J. P.
