Like so many others, I have recently switched to a new computer running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. My BK version is 6.5.13. When I installed BK, all the data files were placed in the Programs Files folder. I have two HDs. The C:/ drive is an SSD and is where I store all program files. The D:/ drive is a 1tb HD for all my data. Question: Is it possible to put all my BK data in a folder on the D:/ drive? If so, would someone be so kind as to instruct me how to do this. And once done, how do I safely remove the data files from their current location? Thanks, Michael Diamant
make sure you have an up-to-date backup. Got to "My computer" and find where the BK data file is now - right click - then choose "move to" - and type path where you want the database to be: i.e.: D:/BK Data As Otto says, when you open the program, type in the new path and bingo! it's should be there. You then can use the program to change the "text" "photos" etc to the correct path names. To Michael Diamant Do you have a current backup copy of your BK data? If yes, then start BK6 and click File, Open Database. Pick the D drive and then create a folder such as D:\BK6\Data Then click OK After it says that folder name at the bottom, then pick File, Restore data and restore from your backup disk. After that, send me a private email about how to remove the data from where it is on C: now. Your datafiles you can put whereever you wish but not in c:/program files. You do select by your selves the location of your database (se manual) if you did earlier have database in some different location you may have to change the path to you pictures files and externat txtfiles and mdiafiles (see manual and Helpfile) -- Otto Jørgensen http://www.bkwin.info/ All email is checked by NORTON
