    3. Otto, In my example, a cousin was buried in Ville-Marie (nortwestern part of province of Quebec, Canada) in october of 1931 after a car accident. A few years later, in september of 1936 in fact, the family decided that he be buried in the family plot in the cimetery in Lotbiniere (southern part of province of Quebec near Quebec City). Both places are more than 1400 kilometers apart. This was a family decision, probably not easy to come to, since all other deceased members of the family had been buried in Lotbinière. The family had to obtain permission from the catholic bishop in charge of Ville-Marie and from a juge from the Superior Court of the province of Quebec before proceeding. This is not frequent, but it occurs at times. It also happens, as David suggests, when a cemetery or part of a cemetery is closed or moved somewhere else.
