[] A little more on this problem: it might have something to do with the fact that I was alt-tabbing to another application and back (the LostCousins website, which requires Ahnentafel number, which is why I was using the "compute relationship" function); it seemed to be more when I switched back from that (i. e. the Firefox browser) that it wouldn't let me quit the "compute relationship" screen.
