Is there a safe way to globally amend part of a location and/or source? I ask because I am in the process of changing from Chapman Codes to full locational references. For example, I have a lot of locations of the type "Wirksworth DBY: [Street]" which I want to amend to "Wirksworth, Derbyshire, England: {Street}". By default, I would have to amend each one individually, but could I do a search and replace from " DBY:" to " Derbyshire, England:"?
To Nick Higton First be sure you have a current backup copy of your database (File, Backup Data Files, copy to usb) OK, then pick File, Utilities, Global Search and Replace, Change only the Location Search for DBY: and change to Derbyshire, England That should work fine UNLESS you already have a location that is the same as the new location. In that case you might get a message that there is a duplication. (I can help fix that if you get that message.)
