    3. Jeff I had the same problem the first time. Funny the same GEDCOM worked for Ancestry.com The 2nd & 3rd times it worked because I ran a macro and removed invalid dates. When the full date isn't known, I use something like ?/?/2018 The other thing that might cause it is if you have hyper links in your file. 3. Hi all; Using 7.3.4  I am now having the same problem.  A gedcoms that copy to Ancestry will not copy to WCBeta.  I've tried making it in ANSI as suggested elsewhere but no luck.   I've been around for a long time and can follow instructions, but don't know how to discover what is causing the gedcom to be invalid. If I knew how to make a macro I'd try that but not knowing how or what the actual problem(s) is/are I am stuck. Can someone please help me get my files online? Thanks a bunch Fran L On 24/04/2019 9:04 p.m., Jim Dell via BK wrote: > Jeff > I had the same problem the first time. > Funny the same GEDCOM worked for Ancestry.com > > The 2nd & 3rd times it worked because I ran a macro and removed invalid > dates. > > When the full date isn't known, I use something like ?/?/2018 > > The other thing that might cause it is if you have hyper links in your file. > > Jim > > -----Original Message----- > From: Jeff Stewart <jeff1950@gmail.com> > Sent: Wednesday, April 24, 2019 8:51 PM > To: bk@rootsweb.com > Subject: [BK] BK Gedcom and WorldConnect Beta > > The feature to upload a gedcom is now available for me. i tried ansel and > utf-8 and neither gedcom is valid. > BK 7.3.4 11 Dec 2018 >

    3. Fran, Hi. - - - -- 1).- You might review your database for inappropriate styles, as in Date, ('Circa' is not a valid use for dates), and there are 'reserved' characters that confuses the parser - the program receiving the gedcom file . 2).- You can view & edit the gedcom yourself by using Notepad. I use that and Microsoft Word for my gedcom editing. An invisible problem is the use of the 'space' or 'tab' characters where none should be or allowed. Sometimes a Carriage-Return or a Line-feed is inserted inappropriately. All these cause problems with receiving programs that have limited and very strict rules. Barry P. 3. Fran I don't know what I did but I am able to upload my file. Have you run BK's quality check? Run your GEDCOM thru a validator? 3. Hi Jim, Quality Check found no errors.  I did use Family Tree Analyzer but am not versed enough to know how to fix the 'errors' it showed and there were a multitude of them.  Also my old eyes are wearing down and I don't see all that well. Barry has offered to look at it so I will take him up on that to see if he can fix me up. thanks for replying Fran On 23/05/2019 7:09 p.m., Jim Dell via BK wrote: > Fran > I don't know what I did but I am able to upload my file. > Have you run BK's quality check? > Run your GEDCOM thru a validator? > > Jim > > -----Original Message----- > From: Frances LaChance <singer.35@hotmail.com> > Sent: Thursday, May 23, 2019 4:13 PM > To: bk@rootsweb.com > Subject: [BK] Re: BK Gedcom and WorldConnect Beta > > Hi all; > > Using 7.3.4 > >  I am now having the same problem.  A gedcoms that copy to Ancestry will > not copy to WCBeta.  I've tried making it in ANSI as suggested elsewhere but > no luck.   I've been around for a long time and can follow instructions, but > don't know how to discover what is causing the gedcom to be invalid. 3. Jeff Have you ever run your GEDCOM thru a validator? How many people in your file? Here's a list of validators https://chronoplexsoftware.com/products/index.htm https://www.cyndislist.com/gedcom/gedcom-software/ http://ftanalyzer.com/ https://ofb.hesmer.name/gedserpro_e.html This program is like a swiss army knife of GEDCOM.
