    3. Hi to all. As this is my first posting for 2019 - Happy New Years to all of you. May it be the best yet but not as good as next year! I have recently completed a DNA test for genealogy (through Ancestry). An interesting step that I thought long and hard about before submitting my sample. However, I wasn't too surprised by the results. So it will be interesting to see if any other 'relatives' pop up. I am running BK 7.3.4 (11-Dec-18) on a PC under Windows 10 64 Bit. My program is registered. I have noticed in the program that there are Event/Facts for DNA. Specifically Y-DNA (used to explore a man's patrilineal or direct father's-line ancestry); mtDNA (DNA passed down almost unchanged from a mother to her children) and atDNA (autosomal DNA). I am wondering how these events are used or if anyone has used them and how you went about entering the data. I certainly am not a geneticist and I don't know how to decipher my 'raw data'. So putting specific parts of my raw data information into a specific Event/Fact is well beyond my knowledge base at present. I tried looking on the forum for information and in the help files but didn't see anything that would answer these questions. Any thoughts or direction is greatly appreciated. Bob

    3. Hi Bob. I started with FTDNA as they have Y-DNA and mtDNA. **> Autosomal, atDNA, is the only test that Ancestry does. BK has event fields for atDNA, mtDNA and Y-DNA. I enter my kit number - it is easy for mtDNA, the type of test e.g; [atDNA], [2018], [FTDNA:- 554089. Autosomal DNA, GedMatch T775786.] and source & note information. Just for me alone, this data is entered. [mtDNA], [2018], [FTDNA:- 554089. Mitochndrial DNA Full Sequence, Haplogroup H5a1.] and source & note information [Y-DNA], [2018], [FTDNA:- 554089. Y-111/500, Haplogroup R343/RM-269>Z251>->FGC65746.] and source & note information The source tells me all about my FTDNA account. It is a secure place to keep sensitive information secure and be readily accessible. I have also LivingDNA, test and I am awaiting my Ancestry.com test to be analysed. My Y-DNA information I have applies to all my Fathers. That sets up a nice report on lineage. Likewise for mtDNA as I have a number of different Mother's families. So that says a test has been done and the source tells about the company and give access (to the data - ID & Passwords). That information is in non-printing Citation Text & Comments. I have done this for my wife - obviously without the Y-DNA Hi hi.. Notice the GedMatch reference here. The test is wasted unless you tell people you have taken a test and make it so folks can find you. See < http://www.pycroft.co.nz/ >. Fish inn all p[onds, someone said to me, and yes, I am getting different fish! {Cousin interests}. At for the information of the test itself, the DNA data results, well I do not know what Ancestry.com presents. There may be a set of chromosome info that can be downloaded as [csv ] which in XL or similar arranged to saved or printed as a PDF and added as a media file. Much of what you want to do depends on your degree of study of the DNA subject and what you want to talk about and to whom.. Barry P.
