    1. [BK] Printing/viewing baptizing/burial day

    3. For many persons in my database (total database 38.000) I have only the date of baptizing instead of birth and burial date instead date of death. I'm still using BK6.6 1) Unfortunately in several overviews no dates were shown (only dates of birth and death)  2) Also when searching people no baptism day is shown if birtday is unknown. So the search order is disturbed. Is there a possibility to tell the system to show baptizing date  and/or burial dates instead if dates of birth and/or death were unknown? Otherwise is it possible to make a change to do so? Daan Arentsen

    3. Daan, In cases where I find I only have baptismal/christening information and/or burial vs. death, I tend to use an "Abt." date for both. For death, using the same year (buried 12-Jul-1885) as "Abt. 1885" might even be a bit more specific, depending on known information. Might be "Jul-1885" or just "1885." However, it is less precise with baptisms, as they can be the same day, a day later, a week, a month, a year, or an adult baptism (the worst-case scenario). It mostly depends on what is known of the family. For instance, in some of my Canadian records, the child was nearly always baptized within days of birth. If I run across a family listed as Baptist, I might put in a date range (such as a baptism occurring in 1885, I might put birth date as "1875-1885" if I know enough information about the individual to KNOW they weren't yet born in 1874, for instance. Yes, it's no exact science, but it can be used as a tool for identification purposes. And, yes, there might be times such usage leads to an incorrect date. However, it's a means to an end. If it is to help determine birth order, or to find a person more easily in a search, then it is providing that amount of help. Just my suggestions from my own experiences. Maybe John can provide a means to search on those events that will help. If not, maybe using something similar to the above approach might be of some use in the interim?
