    3. Hi A few days ago, a friend started getting an error message when backing up: the size of the file exceeds th capacity of the disk, file size: 643578. Free space: 217088. Insert new backup disk or Cancel. He is using a registered version of BK6.5.3 on an XP Pro PC with an internal 1Tb hard hard disk where he stores his backups. Would the fact that he is writing over the previous backup be significant? Any idea? Thanks. Gilles Paquette ----- Aucun virus trouvé dans ce message. 3. Is he using the full C: portion of the disk or a partition of the disk with some other letter? He may have set the partition size too small. 3. Gilles, Have them reboot, don’t load any programs. Then have them double click on My Computer, then select the c: hard drive and right click, then select properties. Look at the graph and the information, used and free space. I don't think their problem is with BK, but with being out of space for some reason. Have them empty their recycle bin and check again. Also storing you backup on the same hard drive as your live files is a bad practice. What happens if their hard drive goes bad? They lose everything including backups. 3. To Gilles Paquette It is possible that the drive is so large, that BK is getting back a false number when it checks the free space. (Like an overflow error) Have him try making a new backup folder, or else have him backup to a USB flash drive if possible. It is better to make an external backup to a flash drive or CD in case the entire hard drive ever fails. John Steed ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gilles de C. 3. Could an external hard drive be an acceptable place to send Backups?
