To Rita (greenways6) If you are backing up to a CD-R then there are different requirements depending on your version of Windows If you have Windows XP then do not click "copy to D:" but instead click the bottom button "Copy to CD-R with Win XP" If you have Windows 7 then before you try to backup to the CD have Windows format the CD. Go to Start, Computer, and Right click the CD drive and pick the option to format the CD. After that, then have BK backup to the D drive. Rita, Does it really say "D:\" or does it say create a new folder "ON" "D:\"? Attach the information (or a reference to it) as a note for each of the 3 or 4 possibilities. Cross-reference the notes to each other, and set them to "Do not print." When you return to those individuals in the future, you may have acquired the additional clue you needed to solve the mystery, and all of the other information will be right there. Thanks, Jim. I think I have it all straightened out now. There's been a person we've been researching for years and we are finally giving in to all our assumptions about this single mom that she is the right person. Everything fits. Hello, I'm trying to attach two different numbered people in my database that we've not known until now were probably the same person. I was going to add the second one as a second parent to the child. There are no known father names for the person. When I go to add parents to the child, it says there are already two sets of parents attached to this child. But, from what I can see, there is only one mother attached to him. How can I see who BK thinks the other parents are? Is it possible to create a report of persons born after a certain date and still alive by another? I would like to create a report of people that should be in the UK's 1911 census. Have you any suggestions? Thanks Tony
To Tony Williams. Yes, go to Lists, Word Search In the born date field type: 1811==1911 That is one year then type = two times then type the second year. In the death date field type: 1911==2012 Then click Create List to Edit or Create Report. It will find people born before or up to 1911 and that died after in or after 1911 John Steed ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anthony G. I file it in a folder call 'Further research' so I can try to see who it is. I think if you just download the file again and try installing from that you should be fine. Assuming you have a backup of your data from before your first attempt, too. Just in case. To Dave Bradshaw When you download the file, it saves it on your disk. If something happens during the download and the download fails to finish, then the size of the file on your disk will be too small. You were trying to download a file that should be 7.5 megs, and the file on your computer was only 1 meg. So if that happens, you need to do the download again to get the entire file. Before the flag feature was available I used Descendants to identify the descendants from the 9 married children of my 7th g-grandparents who came to Canada in 1654. I used Ancestor to identify my own direct paternal & maternal lines. I have kept the Descendant identifier for the original siblings but now use the flag feature for my own & husband's direct ancestry. I use Ancestor Interest = No for spouses because I don't track their families and Descendant Interest = No for adopted children. It's just to remind myself about the person while I am editing or creating lists for myself. I never put either in a report that I share. Hi everyone: OK up and running again. Thanks to everyone who replied the full update route seems to have solved the problem. Not sure why the original problem developed but I'm not losing any sleep over it either. Thanks all, Dave Bradshaw
I am wondering if anyone is using the Ancestor/Descendant Interest events and how that is being used. Regards, David Bartelt
