3. To J P Gilliver Yes, there are sometimes situations that the Relationship Box Chart has trouble with. If you would like me to try to fix the problem, could you make a Compressed Backup and send me Private email with just the BK7DATA.ZIP file and I will try to find the problem and get it fixed. The image shown for 6 Mary Haley M.B.E. was not the "Primary" one (I think it was the first one). I wouldn't have worried _too_ much about those, but (apart from the image for #6 - that came out as the right one on printing!) the chart was the same as the one produced by "Print Chart": https://nam05.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2F255soft.uk%2Ftemp%2F3-4558.pdf&data=02%7C01%7C%7C97d0cc27d45a4c78f73f08d6603a3fa8%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636802200628346901&sdata=3VmTCG8B%2FWeQiyYrqVIRIcHAkirfNeohbwtLywnEZ4o%3D&reserved=0 . As you can see, (a) it _doesn't_ show any link between 3 (bottom left) and 4558 (bottom right) - it actually contains two charts, between which you can trace a white zigzag; and (b), something's gone very odd near the top right of the chart. Thanks - that worked eventually! I thought I'd describe my experience though: I'd forgotten about that one, so I fired it up, entering #4558 and #3 (me). I clicked "Display Chart", and got a box saying "The existing relationship file is for: ...#3 If you want to start with:... #4558 Then you will need to click Start to make a new relationship file. Click Options from the top menu, then start. [OK]". So I OK'd - it gave me a chart with just me in it. So I closed that (which put me back to the edit screen), then fired up Relationship Box Chart, with the two numbers now round the other way, and clicked Display Chart again. I now get a box saying "4558 not found. You might need to set it for more generations, then click Start to make a new relationship file." So I change "Number of generations or sideways links" from 10 to 30 and click Start. (At first I thought nothing was happening, then I saw "Please Wait" and some figures changing, in dark grey on light grey. A more visible colour - such as red - might help here ....) Then I got a couple of progress bars, then back to the start screen. I clicked Display Chart again. I got the "#4558 not found ..." box again. I've put the "Number ..." up to 60 (which seems to be the maximum). I'm clicking Start - Make Relationship File again. After 62 seconds, I got the two "Sorting" progress bars again, and then back to the main screen. I clicked "Display Chart" again, and got a chart! I was a little surprised that I needed more than 30 in the box, for a relationship of "third cousin, once removed of wife of the first cousin, thrice removed": is there a way of knowing, from that, what number _is_ needed? 3. John Steed. PASTING to a Location Field. It would appear from my experiments just now, using UniversalViewer that John Gilliver's pasting problem is the result of having a ['line feed' and 'carriage return'] characters {0A and 0D} included inside the text string. Pasting that string to Notes appears to be acceptable and shows the {0A and 0D} characters included inside the multi-line text string. Removal of same to make a single line of text makes the problem go away. Barry P. There is an option there: "When you tab to a location, do not set the cursor blinking" If you UNcheck that and close options, then when you Tab to a Location field, you should be able to Paste into it. But if you have that option Checked, then if you Tab to a location, you need to either Click the location field with the mouse, or else type one letter then backspace and then Paste into the field. Just got this from a cousin (discussing ship's manifests): You'll see that Vyvyan's sister, Elizabeth Summers is also listed. All I know of Elizabeth is that she, too, went to Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa (which is my old uni). So I highlight "Rhodes .. Africa", Ctrl-C. I now go to Vyvyan's record in my tree, Ctrl-I to insert a new Event/Fact above one that's there, select Education, and tab across to the Location/Description column, press context key, select _P_aste - and there's a "ding", and nothing happens. I try Ctrl-V - same. I shift-tab out then tab back, and try again - same. I try selecting less - just the first two words - no change. I don't know what the precise circumstances are that cause this problem - I _sometimes_ *can* paste into that column - but this is getting increasingly irritating. (BK is still losing focus - i. e, the cursor - if I alt-tab out of BK when editing an event note, too. 3. To J P Gilliver While viewing the Event grid, click the Options button at the bottom right. Yes, if you tab out of BK to another program, you need to click with the mouse on the field you want to have focus. John Steed ________________________________ From: J. P. [Another time when, usually, I'm pasting, though a click restores it in that case.]) JPG Ever been frustrated that you can't *disagree* with a petition? If so, visit 255soft.uk - and please pass it on, too. -- J. P. Gilliver. UMRA: 1960/<1985 MB++G()AL-IS-Ch++(p)Ar@T+H+Sh0!:`)DNAf The average age at which a woman has her first child has passed 30.
