I know how to change that in Windows XP, but cannot seem to find how to change it from read only in the BK program. Can you give me instructions? Yes, That could be the common thread. I did not keep track of all the errors but did remember some and they all had a second or third spouse set as primary. I know, this is probably a stupid question, but better to ask and be sure. I had used BK 6.3 for many years (unregistered). In 2010 I paid for registration and received the 6.4 version on CD and the user's manual. However, I have done nothing with the CD yet. In the manual it does not give any instructions about installing the new version over an older version. I assume I would follow the directions given to install (as though on a computer without any version) and it would, therefore, simply install over the old version? I want to be sure this is what to do. Thanks in advance for any help.

using BK ver 6.5.7- While comparing two databases with 79,000 names that I knew only had a few differences I got many errors reported. I then made a copy of my master file and did a compare and still got many errors, all involve persons with multiple marriages. The left screen has a person with 2nd or 3rd spouse showing but right screen is showing same person but with the first spouse so they don't match. If I manually change the right screen to the correct spouse they then match. I believe the problem only occurs if second spouse has lower bk number than first spouse. So you can make a new backup to a new folder (click Pick a different drive, and create a new folder like C:\BKMARCH and then backup to there) If you make a compressed backup, the file is called BK6DATA.ZIP If you do not make a compressed backup, but pick COPY then it copies the nine files that end with .DT6 to the backup location.
