    3. To J. P. Gilliver Thanks for the suggestion. If it were easy, I would make an option for relative paths. However, at this point it is not easy to make the change because of several reasons. 3. To Dave Bradshaw When you pick "Ancestors and family of ancestors", you get the children of the ancestors, but not the spouses of the children of the ancestors. If you want a larger group, you can try "Entire Branch" which includes a lot more. If you have picture files attached to people on the Media tab, they will probably end up as picture files if you import it again. Any sound, video, or PDF files will go to the Media tab. The gedcom file just shows what files are attached to people, and the gedcom file does not have a way to specify if a picture file should be picture or media. I am working on a way to create a list of all files that are attached to people in the gedcom file. 2. Dave Bradshaw
    3. John: I am creating a gedcom to send to a cousin. This will be records from my mother and her ancesters. The creation works fine but there are a couple of questions that arise out of the creation of the file. If I ask for "Ancestors of a Person plus family of each Ancestor" and my starting ancestor, my mother, has siblings, some of which married, the gedcom does not appear to copy the wife of a sibling. Should it? When the gedcom is redisplayed in BK, the media files are all shown under the Pictures tab. All the strings still point to the original files BK numbers and media or picture folders. As I want to send the associated media files and picture files along with the gedcom, does the creation of the gedcom create a file/files of the media and picture data which is written on the gedcom. If not, is there any way that maybe that could be looked at in the future. It would make it much easier to add those files as an attachment jpg so that the other person could link the data and the relative media/picture files into whichever program they are using. At the moment, one has to go through the gedcom file looking for whichever media file/picture file is displayed and then copy off the file itself for transfer as an attachment. Hope I've not confused you by now. Thanks, Dave Bradshaw

In most cases this is inconsequential. However, if you are adding Jr, Sr, II, M.D., etc to the name, you have to stop and move the cursor to the end of the name before continuing. Wouldn't it be simpler for the cursor to park at the end of the name when using ctrl-enter? 2) I'm about half way through a project entering about 3500 individuals. Many of these have events with an attached note. The data entra page for event notes has a button labeled "Click here to edit text" which changes to "Click here to save changes" when you're done. When working fast I usually have to consciously slow down to get the cursor on the button. This button is certainly wide enough but it could stand to be a bit bigger (taller). Also the Close button on the same page. 3) I know you can't easily do it, but predictive spelling would make data entry for locations a lot faster. Using f-8 or the ctrl-shift-f key procedures help a lot but are limited and slower. Effectus bonus addo bonus

Whwn you do that you will also generate the subfolders for text, pictures and media. You the go to you now present dataforlder as you see down in the from of the first screnn. Make a copy of the datafiles all names as bk....dt6 and move the copy to the new datafoder (9 files) You do the same with pictures, media and extenal text files. They you start the new database by seleting that from BK, File / OPen databasen and find the correct database. (Or you can use File / Utilities / find BK6 database) (If you have also Pictures you might change the path to all pictures) Rember that we now use 6.5 -- Otto Jørgensen http://www.bkwin.info/ All email is checked by NORTON Remember - Use the Archives at http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/search ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to BK-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message Remember - Use the Archives at http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/search ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to BK-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    1. Re: [BK] compare datebase bug

    3. I have no problem. I only look at the person being compared, not the their spouses. If the spouse is different, then I select the down arrow to see who the other spouses are and then make them the "edit" person to see differences in what I have versus to other database. Do you have your main database set to show a specific spouse for some people? Perhaps that is what is causing the problem in the Compare routine. Anyway, I will do some checking to try to find the problem.
